What would it be like if Stephen Sommers directed the 2007 movie and ROTF? Just curious...

    Wes Anderson should direct them.

That's a good question. We'll have to see how terrible G.I. Joe is to decide. Right now I think it can only be somewhere in the range of "mildly nauseating" to "gouge out my eyes bad", based on the trailers. And call me a pre-judging geek all you want, but my G.I. Joe characters don't wear mechanized jumping suits.

I have a feeling that like ROTF, G.I. Joe will be like Team America: World Police, except that it's not meant to be funny.

So do you guys think Bay should get the boot? Love or hate the flim but should the studio/Spielberg look else where to call the shots on the set of TF3? And if so who???

That would be very unfair on Bay because he LOVES doing these movies.

If we give him ideas/time he will make a perfect Transformer movie. I think someone should contact him to get on here and give him some ideas.

Do you think he cares? Honestly, you think he's going to do that? He doesn't care what we think, and he doesn't respect the source material, or care enough to study it. He changes what he changes because he can.

J.J. Abrams. Ridley Scott. James Cameron.

Abrams would be busy with Star Trek sequels, but I guarantee he'd respect the source material. Cameron would be busy with Avatar sequels, so I don't know if we'd get him. Scott? Perhaps, it just means Russell Crowe would be in it. But if I can dream, it's them.

I would love Peter Jackson to direct Transformers...I don't actually know if he has the passion for them like he did LotR but he's fanstastic at staying true to the source material.
Next time I'm in Wellington, I'm going to seriously look him up...

actually no, Peter jackson is who was directly responsible for elves at helms deep.. and he wanted arwen there too..

I don't know where this conception of him being super faithful to source material comes from.. but between his constantly wanting " More elves " Fran and philipa constantly wanting more estrogen soaked drama and the weinsteins constantly wanting more death.. its amazing the Rings movies were even worth watching..

and he doesn't seem interested in working on projects that actually make money.. only one pet projects.. His reluctance to even executive produce the Hobbit seems as if its only finally been induced at gunpoint..

Yes, PJ did look at Arwen at Helm's Deep, but in the long run discarded it as being too far out of line. As a good director, you look at your options, and in this case, he explored them and realised that what was faithful to the source material, was what was best for the film, which I think was for the better :)

    Fixed.

And, as for the OP, I think it could work, provided he made it good, goofy, explosive fun, like the Mummy movies.

My own personal pick would be Paul Verhoeven, but I know there's no chance in hell of that ever happening, but I'd love to see him come back to america and do more sci-fi/action movies.

Realistically I'd like to see Guillermo del Toro, Ridley Scott, Zack Snyder (talk about respecting source material), or maybe just some random up and comer who has a stable history in the business like Marvel did with Favreau....I'd also take Favreau

Bay simply isn't suited to make CGI heavy movies...or anything character related......or anything with a runtime of over 5 minutes for that matter.

After his take on Starship Troopers, let's just say he wouldn't be my first choice.
