That would rule if Transformers won an Oscar - though being nominated period would be an honor in it's self.

I seriously think that it should win for best supporting actor for Kevin Dunn.

I can't imagine any other movie winning for visual effects. Watching it on DVD again yesterday, it's still hard to imagine that the Autobots are CGI when they're at the white building near Hoover Dam; they look so freakin' real. It's like they hired actual Transformers to act in a movie. And the sound (music) was great, definitely beats everything I saw this year so far, mostly because it's original (no remixes of old themes like PotC, Spider-Man 3, and HP5), and it's awesome.

This movie had the best effects all-round of every movie out there. It should win at least one of them. If not, the small light I hold for the sake of humanities redemption shall be snuffed out. The Oscar's will kill that light.

Jablonsky's theme, while great, is actually pretty generic sounding at times, as he comes from Zimmerman's stable of composers, and Zimmerman's style is what's 'in' for movie scores these days, so you hear his style in many films, even if he and his Remote Control composers had nothing to do with it. Jablonsky even cribbed his own work from The Island for this score.

The only reason I'd worry about it not winning for Visual Effects would be the ridiculous political nature of the Oscars.

Deffinatly should win the effects award. It would be an insult if anyother movie got it instead.

After what Bay said in the commentary how the sound mixer lost the academy award 20 times, he should have his due also.

I would tend to agree with you there, but IF the Academy judges by how the music actually "fits" the movie, then the score should win the award. Who knows - the Academy seems to go on whims of fancy with the awards so the "best" in a category doesn't always win. This could be a either a huge detriment or a great plus for the movie.

I just hope the general negative bias that critics have towards Transformers doesn't affect its performance at the Oscars, should it be nominated. It easily beats HP5, Spidey 3, Pirates 3, Sunshine, 300, and Phoenix as far as visual effects go. However, critics seem to be biased towards Pirates especially, and against Transformers. It would be a shame if they were lame enough to deny Transformers the win due to that.

Am I the only person that didnt drink that kool-aid that makes the robots look absolutely real in the movie? Sure it looked good, but I was not totally sucked in by it.

And if Transformers were to somehow win an Oscar, Im going to throw up a little bit in my mouth. While the movie deserves a nomination, I dont think it should win solely because the rest of the movie was just plain terrible. That said, my pick is 300.

The score was awesome, but "What I've done" is an amazing song, the ending with Prime's speech still chills me to the bone, I LOVE LP, and although it's nearly impossible, I would like to see them nominated too.
