The tunes Hunger and Nothing's Gonna Stand in Our Way were songs redone by Kick Axe (under the name Spectre General) for the 1986 Transformers movie. Hunger was originally done by King Kobra and NGSiOW was done by John Farnham. Which version of the tunes do you prefer?

    King Kobra, Hunger:
    YouTube - King Kobra - 02. Hunger
    Spectre General:
    YouTube - Transformers : The Movie - 8 - Hunger

John Farnham, Nothing's Gonna Stand in Our Way, starting from 1:10, vocals at 2:21 (sorry, there are no clips of just the song on youtube):
    YouTube - Savage Streets (1984): Part 1/10
    Spectre General:
YouTube - Transformers : The Movie - 5 - Nothin's Gonna Stand In Our Way

Cool, never actually heard the originals of these tracks before! :rock

Definitely prefer Spectre General's covers of both.

The John Farnham version of 'Nothing's Gonna Stand In Our Way' sounded to me like it kept trying to be Michael Jackson's 'Beat It'.

Me neither, I too prefer the versions we got in the Transformers but it was great to get to hear the originals.

I didn't realize they were covers.

Prefer Spectre Generals as they seem more energetic, but the fact that I've heard those versions for decades probably doesn't hurt.

i definitely agree that the spectre general versions are more energetic. the king kobra guitar solo is just so sick tho. the two are very similar and SG didn't stray too far from the original. SG also did both tunes in the same key as the original.

Interesting how they completely did NGSiOW tho. I'm mostly a jazz, techno, 80s pop guy, but I also love the 80s metal stuff. So grungy, like something that'd be played in a biker bar out west. My love of 80s rock stemmed from Transformers. If my elementary school offered guitar instead of sax, I'd be a very different musician today! =P

Needless to say, I need to get a CD of that kind of music.
