    Another story that confused me:

Starscream got special energon cubes from Cybertron and they gave destroyed military vehicles life?

Must've been some powerful energon on Cybertron.

They weren't energon cubes, they were personality components/sparks.

Wut? Starscream broke into a prison and stole their personalities from a locked container. They were basically sparks before the concept got canonized.

    The above.

Still love the idea that renegade TFs get imprisoned by having their "lives" put on file while their bodies are scrapped.

Can sorta tie-in with "...imprisoned for a crime they did not commit, they escaped from a maximum security stockade..."

    Hannibal is surely Onslaught?

In the cartoon, I never liked it when they transformed for the first time and the knackered old military vehicles suddenly 'blobbed' into the new Combaticon versions. In get what was going on but it looked terrible.

Yeah now that is something i did have a problem with especially since it made the whole WW2 vehicles stuck on an island plot device null and void

As for the A team thing who would be the van if onslaught was murdock i figured vortex for him cos i always saw him as kind of crazy

Hannibal "I love it when a plan comes together" Smith is totally Onslaught.

    B.A.
the blustering, tough-talking brute is Brawl, of course.

Face Man, the smooth-talking conman can ONLY be Swindle.

Murdock the deranged daredevil pilot... Vortex absolutely.

When you actually look at how the individual character traits match up, it's almost too perfect. You could almost believe that Budiansky was watching the A-Team when he devised the Combaticons. That leaves Blast Off as the odd-man out, but he's a space shuttle, so I guess he can be the Van. :)

Oh poo poo, have the voices in my head struck crossover gold?
(I got the A-Team vibe off all the recent Combaticon comic stories.)

I'm sure you could search old A-Team episodes to find an elitist narcissist to match Blast-Off. (I can only picture the episode with Boy George in it, or the one where they take down the bad guys by making a machine that flings candy floss at them.)

A-Combaticons? Most successful thread hijack EVER.

I say Blast-Off could be the guy who played Face in the pilot, before Dirk Benedict took over the role. He had dark hair and seemed a lot more smarmy.

Apologies to the OP, but this thread needs to be re-named for the good of everyone.

Hasn't this been brought up before? I thought that the ol' "Combaticons = Decepticon A-Team" was Fanboy 101 by now. :)

If you think about it, this was the first time we see the "spark removal" technique that IDW has adopted since then for prisoners.
