    Howdy folks,

As some of ya’ll know, my TF figure customization days are in a “indefinite halt status” except for minor LED works due to the arrival of my little one (mainly due to airbrushing).
This subsequently prolonged the completion of my LC Ironhide MK III (until July I think).

However, I couldn’t not suppress my creative juice so I’ve turn to the secondary (and non toxic to baby) passion in my bag of creative Hobbies… ORIGAMI! :)
I know it is far from TF figure mod but I’ve seen some non-TF works here (clay works, sculptures, and etc) so I’ll give it a shot.

MOD, please kindly let me know if I’ve violated yet another forum rule, I will delete this post.

    So, let’s get to it.

Shown here is a Origami Ancient Dragon.
Originally Designed by Satoshi Kamiya (google him, he's got some amazing designs) but folded entirely by yours truly (with some “Zebu customization” of course he he).

It took me about 12 hours of solid folding and shaping.

    Enjoy. ..

Shown here is the original size comparison with my shoe with pre-crease completed.
Yes it is a gigantic paper (I was on it at first)!

Base folded, on to the detailing and shaping.

Next few photos show display the layers and detailing process.
As you can see, there are extremely detailed (and painfully difficult I assure you) features on it (such as claws, spurs, eyelids, and etc).

    WOW!

Did you wet the paper to make it take all those folds?

    Thanks~
    :)
Thanks btw, when will your leader class op gun go on sale? I've been waiting bud.
Anyone can do this, it just takes time and patients :)
    Thanks
Yes, modern origami has evolved since the days of crane lol
It was tedious but I had to release my creative tensions...:-D
No I didn't have to, it is a KRAFT brand of banner paper (48inches by 12 feet) roll. I had to get them from a specialty store and cut to 48in x 48in square. But the paper has long fibers so it is extremely durable and can take extreme abuse to soften it up.

Origami Dragon is an ultimate transformers! It deceives as an ordinary paper and transforms to a dragon to attack you lol...j/k, This project was to hold me up until I get to resume my normal tf figure mod works.

I got the diagram from Satoshi Kamiya's book but did some extensive modifications. Thanks~

EXCELLENT work, sir! Looks absolutely amazing! I have the book with the diagrams for that dragon but I'm not skilled enough for it yet, so it sits there taunting me. XD Working my way there. Doesn't help that the largest paper I have available is 10-inch kami that rips fairly easily... Do you know what stores carry that kind of paper? A lot of the more complex models I try, I end up wishing I had larger paper.

Again, awesome job! Here, have instructions for a transforming origami VF-1, aka Not-Jetfire. =D http://www.majhost.com/gallery/rcxmaster/artstuff/origami/vf1.jpg

    Thanks for the compliments.
Yes, proper paper is very important when it comes to complex origami because by the time you realize the paper is too small, you've already wasted several hours.

Anyways here is the link to where I bought the paper.
    BUY Banner Paper 48In X 12Ft

I wish you the best of the luck tackling this project. Keep at it, you'll get better...(My first several attempts were also not as expected and discouraging). PM me if you need further directions.

Hi, I was in the same boat as you until i tried some role of paper, but it was fragile and prone to tearing too. Thats one of the reasons mine didnt come out so great. I watch a video on youtube on how to make origami paper out of 2 pieces of tissue paper pasted together with wall paper paste. Due to the double layers adding strenght, but also thin enough to fold the finely needed for this piece of work. I can give you a link if you like of the video, and perhaps you can have ago yourself....

    Let me know

    All the best
