Are you talking about Billy Galaxy? Man the place is cool, very tight spaces, but spendy. Worth a look though I usually say.

You know I tried double checking but I'm not seeing that place listed anymore on CL. Amazing heroes actually sounds right but it looks like a different building. Did they move?

Haha the guy who ran it was like a mixture between Comic book guy and Sheldon with all their winning personality traits.

I don't know, but I remember hearing stories of people having bad experiences there. In any case if you come across a place you are unsure about, someone here will probably let you know if the place is worth a quick run through or not.

Yeah. The original owner was an awesome guy, who actually sold imports (whenever he and his wife would go visit her family in Japan, he'd load up a couple of suitcases full of stuff to sell), treated you like a person, and actually had a schedule. Got all sorts of Godzilla and Ultrakaiju back then.
    Now, with the new owner...yup.

Nope...I was there for the last 2 years and do not feel like making the trip to there. I usually help a fellow Oregonian who is an artist and we have to setup at 8 which means leaving Portland no later than 5 am. Also, we had to pack up gear for a panel for both years.

So why aren't there any TF conventions in Portland? It seems ridiculous that there are conventions all across North America but none in the city right next to Mt St. Hilary/Helens.

There are a few possible reasons on why Botcon or TFcon has not been in Portland. In terms of Botcon, as I understand various aspects on why. One of them is the hotels since it is hard to say if any of them could have held it (space), cost (deals), and possible weather. This convention was usually held in the springtime when it rains. I know that Oregonians can handle it but it is hard to say with the rest of the country. Most people would complain that it is too far and expensive. TFCC was based in Dallas and having it in Portland would be a huge cost for them...travel-wise.

TFcon...I have spoken to them. Even though they believe it would be a good idea since Portland is the site of G1 but again, it would be a heavy cost since they are in the eastern portion of Canada.

Now, anyone could possibly create a TF convention if they have the resources to do so. For now, we have RCCC in September and Cybfest in August in Kent, WA.

Thanks for the response. I'm glad to know that somebody else has been asking this important question. I understand that convenience is probably going to take precedence over other concerns for the existing organizers so it sounds like it won't happen until somebody local steps-up to make it happen.
