While yes, it qualifies as a better fight scene since it’s actually a fight, Megs still goes down almost immediately just like in TLK. It was just a quick, rushed fight. Oh snap, pyramid explodes, let’s shove each other around a bit until Optimus saves the day. And takes a face. A lot of it is pretty haphazard and it’s hard to make out what’s happening at some points.

Though I forgot Megs going “Fwahhscreammmmm” was funny. :lol

It was decent, but it was shorter than it should have been. Even Bay complained that he wanted it to be longer.

Typical aweful Bay screen framing direction again. Half the time, the character actions are occluded, in this case by those columns/pillars.

I must agree. The graphics... And just the pure awe in it. Too bad Blackout became Grindor just to get snuffed.

Iirc, in the commentary of that scene, it was stated they wished it could've been a longer fight. They didn't film enough scenery shots to produce a longer fight scene.

Edit: My favorite fight is still the forest battle.

I agree. Personally, the forest fight managed the same hectic feel whilst still having clear framing for me. It was the best "shaky Bay right-in-the-action" scene and, IMO, the Fallen battle is one of the worst. I wish I had the blu-ray with the slightly extended forest fight. (extended being a few extra seconds and shots of the robots)

Also, in this fight in particular, is it just me or is it not rendered properly? Like the models don't seem realistic, and they're either moving too fast or there's not realistic blur or something. Compared to the forest fight where the characters look perfectly blended in with the scenery, the models in the final battle look REALLY out of place.

Any battle in any TF movie is better than the ones we got in TLK as much as I hate to say this.

While I personally disagree with it being the 'best' per say, I thought this one was pretty cool. The relatively unique climatic score mixed with the prevalent, non-standard sound effects of stuff like Megatron's Fusion Cannon and Prime's boosters made it less generic than some of the fights in the series, but the aforementioned obscuring of the fight doesn't make anything any clearer. And while I don't really love the Bayverse Prime psychotics outside of AoE, the 'give me your face' thing still makes me as giddy as my first viewing. People cheered for that back then! Don't know how or why, but people cheered for that, so I guess in the darkest way imaginable it was almost heroic? and lol at THWARSCHREAM

The Final Battle had some really awkwardly framed shots. The most iconic bit for me is Optimus blasting Megatron through a wall with Jetfire's thrusters. The Forest Battle is a much better choreographed and paced fight, but there's a few weird shots there too (an early bit where Optimus goes after Megatron and Starscream has like 3 unnecessary cuts just to reframe it from a barely changed angle).

I think the best staged fight is still Optimus vs. Sentinel. There were some really powerful hits and cool shots in that fight.

While it's far from the worst fight in the entire series, the fight is just a little bit too short and anti-climatic at best. It's still a better fight than any of the action scenes in TLK.

Lighting definitely looks off from the environment.

The two even-numbered entries in the live action series are vastly underrated, and I really like most of the second movie for what it is trying to be, even with the glaring geographical continuity errors and silly elements, the latter which I find fun for the most part. However, the battle between Optimus and the Fallen is not its highlight in my opinion. The lighting is off, and it's over too quickly, to the point that it feels anti-climactic. Plus we don't really see the Fallen enough as a character.

Lockdown vs. Optimus and Sentinel vs. Optimus are much better final fights, imho. Heck, I like Jetfire's entry into the battle and the Decepticon search for Sam and the Matrix better.

While I do like how this fight showed just how vicious Optimus is in a fight, I have to agree with the consensus and say that it's not the best fight. The Bayverse franchise's best fight is undoubtedly the forest fight.
