OK, so on the side of Ultimate Optimus Prime's box, it's said that the combined mode is made with Optimus Prime and the "Omega Armor". And then I remembered this... Suddenly, the position of the wings in the promotional pictures makes a lot more sense. Is the trailer Omega Supreme and/or a possible homage to the character?
Nah, I believe that the trailer is only a stand-in for Jetfire's parts... Which I'm totally down for... But I have to admit, this wild speculation before the movie just gets wilder and wilder... lol
Thats exactly what I'm thinking, his wings look very "Ancient Cybertronian" in my opinion. I'm thinking Optimus goes up there, gets parts from the ship and comes back to the earth. Only to have the ship transform into omega at the key point of the invasion and blast all the Decepticons. or Optimus goes up there and finds out from sentinel it WAS Omega, and he is like dying or something.
I do feel that based off Michael Bay's constant quoting of Black Hawk down means something significant...because it's all he ever says. I think he means that our regular group of Autobots are the guys like in the Blackhawk, and the Decepticon army are the masses. and at the last minute, when no hope is left, BAM in comes Omega Supreme to save the day with either his dying remaining energy, or someone woke him up. Thats my thought.
and from what i can tell it seems prime only has the trailer towards the end of the film... if so then i can see that when the go to the moon to get Set Prime they bring back the bouns weapons and tech from the ark. which would tie in and make sense for the film.
What's so wild about the speculation? -It's called Omega Armor on the box -The armor does seem to have its own, stand alone, robot mode. -The wing position in the promotional material for the figure is similar to the "wings" on the original toy Even if it isn't actually Omega Supreme or isn't called Omega Armor in the film, it's still logical to conclude that the figure is a call back to Omega Supreme. And it wouldn't be too much of a jump to conclude that there is some sort of homage or tribute to Omega in the film. Yeah, I don't see too much "wildness" here.
Why? Seriously, why on Earth would they do that? Even if you want to argue that the jetpack looked a little like Jetfire's parts because they were black in the TV spot, that ignores the facts that: -Beyond color, they look nothing like the previous parts in PUP. -We don't know if that's actually the trailer or something else. But the idea that Prime would be carrying the reconfigered corpse of an ally around so, every now and then, he can fly, is just silly. I would certainly hope that the writer would be a bit more original (and far less creepy) than that.
Anything's possible but the Jetfire/OP Trailer idea was my (and most people's) first thought as well. Before ROTF, OP couldn't fly. Then Jetfire gives him his jets and he saves the day at the end. Now, in the DOTM trailer we see OP still being able to fly. It's an easier and more logical jump of a guess to assume this is Jetfires add-ons still and not some new Omega whatever robot stuff that only geek detectives would speculate about. I'm not saying it won't be, just saying the easier assumption with the 2nd movie's evidence fits better for now until DOTM's story is more known.
Well hopefully there will atleast be an explanation to where he got the 'parts' and doesn't just show up with them at the end.
You say "geek" as if it's a bad thing. Guess what, buddy? You are posting on a website dedicated to a toy property. You're a geek too. ;-) Just saying. I don't trust "easy" assumptions. For one thing, you know what they say about assumptions, right? For another thing, while people think that "the simplest solution is often the correction one" they are often mistaking what is the simplest solution. And, again, you're assuming that the jetpack we saw in the trailer is the trailer. Maybe the trailer is something else entirely that Prime doesn't combine with until the very climax of the film. We really don't know. I'm not saying that I've discovered some secret of the film, but that the toy, at the very least, seems to be an homage to Omega Supreme. If this is true in the film...we don't know. *shrugs* Maybe, maybe not. I'd feel safe in saying "yes" but I'm open to being wrong.
Chill yer jets, Captain Sensitive. Who says I'm not a geek? All I said was that I wasn't sure about anything, only that the obvious stuff put in front of us points more one way than another way. However, the speculation on your end is totally possible and you could be absolutely, positively, certifiably, 1000% correct ... or not.
