Ok... so where did this thing come from? It's a bad ass add on, we know that, but it kinda seems like Primes G1 trailer, it comes out of nowhere, only this time, it's a jet-pack/jet-wing.
I used to think that Prime's jet-pack was his trailer transformed, and I got that idea from Hasbro's Butterfly Ultimate Optimus Prime.

Then I thought... his trailer has all of his weapons stored, and transforms into a weapon ring. So that idea's out.
The jet-pack is way too big to fit in side the trailer itself, so that's out, too.

What does that leave us with, though? Nothing.
I know I'm over thinking it- and that's one thing you should never do with the movie trilogy, but I just had to ask you guys your thoughts on where the jet-pack comes from.

It's his trailer. His trailer can turn into a bunch of stuff, but we only see it in three modes.

    Concept art suggests otherwise.

Yea, but how does it fit?? I know it could fold up or something, but there's still a lotta stuff in there.

It...just folds up significantly? It's not that much of a stretch.

It transforms, and it can probably expand in size.

It's most certainly a different trailer.
One transforms into a weapons rack, one transforms into the jetwing.

It's not such a stretch to think he has multiple trailers that do different things for different occassions, probably invented by Que (because yeah, I don't think all of the weapons still fit in there).

I don't think there will be two trailers just for Optimus, he's not the only to be armed in combat.

Apart from how -judging from preproduction art- the jetwing and the weapon storage rack where designed as two totally independent ways for a possible trailer to design, why would two trailers not make sense?

Just look at the way the weapons rack transforms, and the way the jetwing looks. Even for movie Transformers, that break up in alot of pieces, it seems like an awful big stretch for one trailer to transform into both.

And if you think a character like Que would have been too busy to create two trailers for Optimus (if he even had anything to do with it), just think of the amount of work it would be to create two different transforming trailers compared to trying to fit two entirely different transformations into one single trailer.
Yeah, one trailer doing multiple things definitely takes more time to create.

Just my opinion, of course. And I don't really care if it's one or two trailers. For all I care, it transforms and Optimus just dumps the leftover weapons on the street before takeoff :lol

I might be totally wrong on this, but aren't the jetwing wings made of the trailer's sides?

Well, you know, with a movie called TRANSFORMERS, you should maybe, juuust maybe, expect their weapons to... Oh I don't know, transform?

If this universe has little tiny marbles that combine into a human-sized scissor Decepticon, I can handle a trailer that turns into a weapon ring and a jetpack.

Ok, I agree that the trailer is one trailer and can transforms into the jetwing and a weapon store, it's ridiculous with two trailers, when you have Wheeljack to improvise since he's the scientist.

    Optimus Prime= Thunderbird 2!..100% Serious!

But no really, that was my first though because TB2 had different pods for different occasions.

And I kind of like the idea.

In the novel, Wheeljack designed and built Optimus' trailer. As someone has already pointed out, Transformers do Transform, along with their weapons. The trailer serves more than one function.

the cube from TF1 is huge, but it shrunk and became really small, why not the trailer right?so probably the trailer weapon ring and the trailer flytech is just the same.a cybertronian swiss knife.
