Okay, so, Micronauts: Wrath of Karza was confirmed to be "early on" relative to the Optimus Prime series on the Writer's Reddit AMA a while back, but the thing is only the appearances of a few TFs is tying them together so far, and nothing of the plot is carrying over as of WoK #4. My conundrum is this; In my ongoing reading order table of IDW G1, should I have Optimus Prime be set solidly after Wrath of Karza, in true chronological fashion, or have Optimus Prime placed laterally to Micronauts, ROM, etc. so that people can start it whenever, more like how it was published?

[gdoc of options, bastard really does not copy/paste well]

I'm honestly conflicted as to which would give the best read, so I figured I'd ask for some feedback. Tell me your thoughts!

Earthwar isn't going on during Optimus Prime's first arc, so it's gotta come before.

Just toss the Micronauts stuff in the trash. It has no place in the Transformers Universe.

I just read it as casually happening in between.
What's an easily dealt with invasion more or less.

No critisism on WOK though, i think it's great... up untill where the tables are conveniently turned in the blink of an eye.

Despite the fact that the Micronauts series doesn't portray it well, Karza's invasion isn't meant to be "easily dealt with"; it's a global invasion that Earth's forces were losing to. Also, the President refers to four invasions in Optimus Prime #7 (Decepticons, Junkions, Dire Wraiths and Karza), and it doesn't really seem like there's space for WOK to have happened between #6 and #7.

You realise that isn't, like, a helpful comment to make in any way?

I should probably clarify that it is indeed dead-set that Wrath of Karza is taking place before Optimus Prime, the major question is just if it's subjectively okay to read OP first anyways since they don't share a a continuous narrative.

Although, going by the above suggestion, I'm guessing some readers will skip straight to OP no matter how I put it.

Ehhh. I'd still say it's best to have them in roughly chronological order, since otherwise there's likely to be confusion over "wait, when did THIS happen?".

Yes. The armies of earth and all it's heroes were completely overrun. But then in five minutes they completely turn the tables on Karza.
I call that easily dealt with.

But is there a way to make it fit?
I don't really care about all this continuity stuff.
I don't pay enough attention to let tiny discrepancies like if this takes place between that and that why isn't Jazz doing that bother me.
But with so many different titles being written in the present i'd like to ask the people who do pay attention wether they can fit everything.
And as you say not just putting it around issue so and so because there is nothing to contradict, but to place it somewhere where it logically fits.

Didn't John Barber say it takes place before the first arc of Optimus Prime?

    How is that possible?
Revolutions didn't even happen yet by the time of the rebranding.

...What are you talking about? Optimus Prime #1 came out, like, a month and a half after Revolution ended, and there was a time skip between the two.
