    Thanks :D

And, um, no. I'm not really into modeling robots anyhow. This, to me, is just a way to hone my modeling skill. With patience, I might be able to make this model printable. Expensive, but it's possible. Besides, the one character that actually caught my eye since the first movie is Ironhide. If I were to make another one, Ironhide would be the one I make.

PS: this can also be considered as my way of saying that Megatron is such a pain in the a$$ to model. The character is such a mess (read: complicated) I can't even make out the details.

    Latest update!

The faceplate is fully controllable to open/close. Modeling is about 95% completed.

    To do:
    - finish modeling the arms, neck, back, parts of the helmet/head
    - make weathering effect to the textures
    - rig (bones, controller, etc.)

[PS: Won't be updating the first page anymore]

    Update 06/29/2010:
Gave it a more realistic look by using studio lighting setup. Just to see how this guy would look if we were to print it out one day.
    - eyes have been remodeled and given a shutter open/close controls to simulate blinking.
    - tweaked body proportion a bit

    To do:
    - LOTS

    Hope you guys enjoy it.

wow..thats pretty awesome stuff there. Thing i would point out tho is that the head seems to be scaled up a little, and the thumb looks a little on the long side. But the textures and the model look amazing, what is/was your poly count?

    Thanks!

You're right! I knew there is something off about it but can't quiet figure it out because I see this guy way too many times. Fresh eyes are all I need. Thanks mate! My poly count is somewhere around 7 million, but only 1,5 million on viewport with the smoothing set on render. I'm rendering right now with all the changes you mentioned. Will post soon. Takes about 23 min. to render on my laptop.

    EDIT:

    Here it is

Impressive! And I gotta say slightly better proportioned than the actual movie designs!

Primus-damnit! Will you stop making him look so damn gorgeous, mate!

The suspence is killing me! I swear it is!

Although... the hands look funny without them being bunched up into fists. XD

    Me neither actually :D

Thanks! I'm not too sure about the proportion though. Especially with the hands.

I'll probably do that but I don't think I'd be able to make the fingers articulate.

LOL yeah, will have to prioritize the fingers when I start rigging him. I've finished modeling the body and head. Currently doing some detailing on the legs and then I'll move on to the hands. I might be able to start rigging next week.

    Thanks for the support people!

    Latest update.

NOTE: Didn't have enough time to finish him last week so I haven't finished modeling the hands. If you happen to have clear reference pictures of OP hands (I also need pictures that also shows the correct proportion of the hands in relation to its body), please send them to me. Thanks.
