Got this awhile ago for cheap, had to remove some biking sticker a kid slapped on his head. But when he was polished up, it was actually in pretty good condition!

I heard it was released only to "Green Stamps" stores (???) but I'm not sure I trusted that source.

So... are these rare? Do they go for alot?

Here's the pics... the 2 images before the last show the slight crack as well as a ding on his middle helmet piece.

I also heard it may have been made by 2 different companies... but again, shitty source.

Any verifiable data on this puppy?

It's not often I sell strange or rare stuff... but it's even more perplexing because I don't know a whole hell of a lot about it yet.
For instance, I'm wondering just how many were made.
That's important because due to their fragile nature, I can't imagine too many still exist.

This site lists the manufacture date as 1985: http://www.plumed-serpent.com/artifacts.html

So far, these are the only places online I've seen it referenced with pics:

    $165

    (no value determined):
    http://www.mythings.com/viewitem.aspx?itemid=218429

Notice too, where theirs both have silver, mine is more gold.
So, that makes my quest for historical data even more complex... and this variant to the jar perhaps making mine even more rare.
Of course, I do wonder if it's oxidization.
    (I have NO idea).

However, I'm concerned in selling it in a timely manner, as it might get lost on eBay... surrounded by the upcoming Optimus cookie jars slated as merchandise for the new movie.

    EDIT:
I'll "end" this auction at June 13th at 12PM. (Wednesday, EST)
I think I'll start it at $225 and see who on which Transformers site still has interest after a day or two.
    Edit: Lowered to $125.

I don't have Paypal, only taking Postal Money orders (or cash with pickup in PA.), just so you know.

I WAS going to sell it on eBay, but thanks to identity theft, oh SEVEN YEARS AGO, I have no bank account / credit cards to get an account with them.
    >__<

So yeah, once I know more about it, I'll start takin' bids from guys on here and 1 or 2 other fan sites.

Was that on eBay? I've been watching it ALOT lately to try and get an estimation, but found none there whatsoever.

I saw one at a toy show yesterday. The guy was asking $135, his looked a lot brighter, like new, though no one bought it.

Alright, someone set up the steel cage, Alphie vs Sami, vs ambush, the one left alive gets to buy the jar. That works out cause if he charges an arm and a leg, chances are there will be a few to spare.

Half of you have already seen me and oil..Jello can't be all that bad..

Anyways, yeah..I've never heard of a gold version, I'd think it more oxidation and sunlight..But I could be wrong. Do you have an idea of what kind of price you're looking for on this?

The paint is covered underneath a layer of glaze, so I'm doubting moisture's invaded it.
    UPDATE:
One of the people online we showed it to (a cookie jar store who have a silver version) said this was the second one they've seen that was gold instead of silver, and the Barnes & Noble cookie jar collection book has a silver & gold version listed.
I think I'll start it at $225 and see who on which site still has interest.
    edit: Lowered to $125
(Just moved for the 5th time in 5 years, got meself some of them "bill" things to pay).
