Featured Ebay Auction - Pre-Production Optimus Prime G2 Pop Up Card
If they were never produced, then why do I have some?
Care to share a few pics? I'd love to see them.
Laser Prime and many of the last wave of G2 had theirs included with their toy. The article is quite misleading.
I was just about to say, they were included with laser Prime, the Autorollers, and I believe the laser cycles, as well.
Thanks for the heads up then. Will update the article.
Here's a photo of one of the laser cycle's over at the tf wiki
Real Action Pop-Ups 3-D Transformer Trading Card - Transformers Wiki
The only thing I liked about these is you didn't have to cut out the tech-spec card, other than that they were useless and boring.
Funny thing is I recently got an unpunched Prime card in an auction.
And...d-did I get credit for something...wow.
Sharing useful knowledge is much appreciated.
You're welcome and thanks for the cedit too, though I thought they were included with all the old Tech Spec archive material, but they are not posted in the tech spec gallery here. Yet I could be wrong, though all fault lies with the auction seller in any case.
Thanks for sharing! I love historical stuff like this
I own a couple of these proof sheets (Laser Prime and the Autorollers). None of them were unreleased (with the exception of the ones that came with unreleased toys ie. Lazercycle Jazz). They were all released but the later packaging omitted them so they are somewhat rare.
Believe it or not folks, the Transformers Pop-Up card was my idea years ago. I gave the idea to a Hasbro rep at no charge. It was at a time Hasbro was really thinking about doing away with the Bio Cards/Tech Specs. I think I helped talking them out of that idea. A shame the Pop-ups cards never took off. I think I have one or two in my collection somewhere. I'll try to find them. I also swear to Primus that my story is true.
Yeah, none of my packaged ones had these.
Though my packaged samples are all EU releases so they were probably left out due to the need to translate everything 3-6 times over.
I can well believe that the bios might have gone away, they almost did in Armada / Energon after all. It cannot have been the only time that thought crossed their minds I'd imagine, especially since it costs money to hire writers to do these things, and if the line's not as successful, it's the logical first place to look to cut costs.
It is a pity the pop up cards never took off. I thought the concept was neat.
Found a few
I suggested they use somebody like Fleer, but it was deemed by Hasbro to be too expensive.
