They're collectable designer toys based on the same blank canvas. They're not action figures, they're not meant to have specially sculpted parts, and they're not meant to appeal to children or robot toy fans, they're pop art aimed at adult collectors with more money than sense.

Yeah, I've heard of them and seen them all over the web. But Subotnik said that so many of us (not sure who specifically) are "failing to understand the concept" in some way.

Is there some deeper level than "deco emulating random character having nothing to do with bears... slapped on a bear"?

EDIT: And now I see that Subotnik has replied. And it appears that there is, in fact, not a deeper level.

General disinterest and failure to understand are not at all the same thing. This is just a crossover market that doesn't exist is all. I understand why the concept might work in some cases, I just don't think it does here.

You are, in fact, correct. Give yourself a smug little pat on the back.

I never claimed there was a deeper meaning, just that people didn't seem to understand the concept. People such as:

    Night Flame
    newOrder
    Basketball Jones
    DeceptiKreep

Considering there have already been people expressing interest here, I'd say the market exists.

Dude, relax. No smugness intended here. If anything, I thought your post came off a bit that way, though.

I do not see these as being for TF fans as much as they are for fans of the Bearkbricks. Frankly the designs are just lacking to me. I mean Megatron has nothing going for him at all. With such complex movie designs I think they could have done something more interesting.

    My friend thinks they're cute.

Never heard of these things before, though.

These are just like....two of the stupidest things I have ever seen.

I didn't think it was possible for me to ever find something as..pointless and..stupid as this. I mean..I can't even begin to try to possibly, maybe see the appeal of these.

Yes, three people out of dozens on a board of dedicated Transformers geeks are interested in this product. It's obviously a smashing success!

I think somebody else said it, but I can't be bothered to find it and quote it: they're more for bearbrick fans who maybe wanted something TF themed rather than TF fans (or even robot fans in general). This board (for the most part) just isn't the crowd for them.

Speaking as a grown man with cupboards full of toys gathering dust:

    Why?????

Why are these made and bought?

Is it a cruel Decepticon infiltration trick?!

It's cute and all, but not for me.

And I think it bares remembering that not everything TF related is for the dedicated TF fan. Just because you dont like them doesnt mean it's not worth making.

If you ask me, these 2 Toys are looking absolutely lame.

As i see it, you have to be the Overlord of the lamers, to pay money for these.
Only way for me to get this, is if they were making these as a giveaway at the theatres and even then, I would be giving these away to a kid.
I would rather buy several Legend-Toys of the same Figure, than this.
