I just received my ebay order of Optimus Maximus. My plan is to repaint him with a Fort Max Deco. I plan to use Krylon Fussion Spray paint, however I question if I should do so since I didn't anticipate that OP-Max's plastic is softer and I don't know how it will react when painted; I'll test it later. So do you guys recommend I use another type of spray paint?

Nice idea. A base coat of an acrylic would eliminate any reaction to the paint you want to use. It would be better if all the open parts were filled in somehow.

    Sweet idea! :thumbs2:

Have you thought about repainting Optimus Maximus as Metroplex? :inquisiti

I plan to cover all the spots that require movement (elbow, legs etc..) and peg holes. As for a acrylic base, what name brand/ product do you recommend?

Op-Max's alt mode definitely looks like Metro's mobile alt-mode. But I already own Cybertron Metroplex and for me he's good enough stand in for Metro period. The moment I saw OP-Max the firsrt thing that came to my mind was to see him repainted as Fort Max.

Someone needs to make custom cast bits that fill those spaces.

So that you could still us the stations if you wanted.

    Fusion takes just fine.

I'm making a Grandus out of him. I added ramps, a working elevator, some computers, satellite dishes, feet guns, put in pinchers in place of fists, put ball joints in for the arms - creating double jointed arms (regaining some of the lost shoulder range of motion), etc...

I'm using a white satin Krylon, one of the red fusions for the guns, and Games Workshop/Citadel Chaos Black Spray for the hands / feet.

So far I have alot of the parts ready to be painted. I'll start painting him some time during the week.

I agree with you. So far my Cyberverse Wheeljack and LOC Trailblazer seem to be able to cover the gaps on his forearms nicely and I always have someone stored in his legs.

I wish I had that kind of money to buy the parts and the patience to customize it. I look forward to seeing how Grandus will turn out.

It's not that expensive. I use balljoints from the Lego Hero Factory sets. They're pretty cheap. One figure for 7 or 8 bucks will give you 8-12 sets of balljoints. I bought an entire bin of them at a flea market for 20 bucks. So I have a ton of them on the cheap.

The rest came from other figures I used for other customs and spare parts from my collection (like the Energon Bruticus gun hands - unnecessary once I got the Fansproject sets). When you're cutting things apart and changing things, you wind up with lots of unused parts for later use.
