Okay, that "fixed" game's getting annoying.

About the only time this version of Optimus showed good judgment past Darkness Rising was in Stronger Faster when he was reluctant to test the Synth-En, and in One Shall Fall, when he butched up and decided to end the war. I sincerely hope I'm missing something here.

 

Optimus has tried to end the war more than once, but it doesn't click as sound judgement for a lot of people in the way he's leading. Only since One Shall Fall has he realized he has to kill Megatron, and has at every opportunity.

A vanishingly small amount of opportunities, however.

It would have made for a short show If Optimus had shot Megatron in the neck with his spare arm's cannon while Megatron was playing catch with his sword.

Oh and Optimus comes across as a clueless twit in the Novels as well.

When we say "Optimus is dumb," it's not that people are confusing fictional characters for reality. What's meant by the statement is that Optimus is written to be dumb. Which he is. Although, so is nearly every other character, too.

 

As per the last episode I've seen [Armada], I now consider Prime-Optimus the worst strategist of the Transformers franchise alongside G1-Starscream. Really, he probably burned the copy of "The Art of War" someone gave him.
