I'm sure you recall Optimus loosing his almost a year ago (In DOTM), but I actually came across a picture from that Inspirational Pics thread saying "Bad news, Sentinel. I'm left handed." I know that's a joke and all, but what if it's true? If he is left handed, why would he need his right arm? Yea, it would be better to have both arms, he'll probably have a hard time transforming with one side of the truck missing, but putting that aside, he doesn't need the arm.
Considering how the majority of the Movie Prime figures actually transform, I'd say he kinda needs both arms. Because it would be hard to drive around as a truck in disguise when it's missing HALF THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. That, and his face taking arm is actually his right arm, so he does need it back. Finally, Ratchet survived the battle, and since it's over, why the hell would Prime NOT want to reattach his arm? He's not Megatron, who can go for an entire movie with what amounts for a twig as an arm, and it's really hard to make awesome leader poses without both arms.
-facepalm- ok, i`m going to steep to your level and make this very clear. They are robots from Cybertron, heck, they can be brought back from the dead. Optimus`s weakness wasnt that he only had one arm at the time, it was that Sentinel`s blade was thrust into his shoulder blade and pushed to the ground. With no weapons and the blade pushing down on him he couldnt attack Sentinel.
I'm gonna chime in and say that Ratchet and the Wreckers would repair Optimus' arm. After all, there's only like thirty dead decepticons laying around that they could use for parts.
Honestly I'd rather see him in TF4 without his arm re-attached. Why i dunno, he can still kill with one arm anyways so he's good.
He should just get a chainsaw for an arm (obscure cult classic reference). j/k No, but seriously, he would need his arm for balance.
Actually, it sort of it since this is just you posting a reaction thread to a demotivational poster joke. Namely because I'm sure nobody gives a damn as to the arm preference of Optimus Prime, and the idea he should pull a ROTF Megatron and not have a decent replacement arm...that's one of the stupidest ideas I've ever heard. It didn't work for Megatron (it's one of the reasons I despise that design so much) and there isn't a chance in hell Hasbro will allow Prime to enter a film crippled.
The way I would handle it would have a two armed Prime again, but have him fighting hand-to-hand with whoever the enemy is and the enemy comments on how Optimus' right seems weak, like it has been severely damaged and replaced. More than just a nod to the damage, make it a full on weakness, say he's been weaker with his right since he got it fixed after Chicago. It'll make Optimus just a bit less invincible and by that same extension more fun to watch. Evil Dead for the win.
Nah. Bumblebee's legs got fixed perfectly, so why shouldn't Optimus's arms? I'd think that Optimus would take the opportunity to reinforce his shoulders and upper arms to try and prevent this kind of thing from happening again.
Nice. I'd be all for this. It doesn't even have to be "crippling ailment"-weak, just "old war wound makes arm at only 75% strength"-thing. Almost like an Achilles heal. A pressure point, if you will. Optimus would still be one tough cookie, but a lucky shot to his right arm would cause him to shout in pain and get down on his knees.
I call shenanigans on that; since when in the movies has Ratchet demonstrated any level of medical competency? Optimus is fraked!
