It's a terrible name. But the idea people today don't know where it comes from is depressing.

Yeah, I'm swedish and I remember getting a toy advert or something with the coming Transformers toys back in the mid eighties. Me and my friend Magnus was checking it out, we burst out laughing when we saw the name Ultra Magnus :)

1.) Octopussy is from James Bond.
2.) Lt. Assblast? That's obviously a porn stage name. :lol

Oh. My. God! That is just cruel!!!!

I also hate the name "Neveah" - in the course of my current studies (student midwife) I have to do various follow throughs and a certain number of deliveries etc. I am only half way through and there have been 4 Neveahs born while I have been on clinicals!

It's just so stupid! No-one thinks it's romantic or cool or sweet to have your child's name be "heaven" spelt backwards *rolls eyes*. It's also placing undue pressure on the child.

So THAT's what it is? I always thought it was some fancy-schmancy name from Babylon or Persia or Africa or someplace exotic that hipster or wigger parents decided to pick for their kids.

Yeah, when I first heard it I asked the parents how they came up with it (thinking, like you that it was some sort of ethnic name) and they promptly told me it is "Heaven" spelt backwards.

The really sad thing is that every parent who has a baby girl and names her Neveah seem to think they are the first to have thought of it......

I went from thinking it sounded quite nice (pronounced Nev-ay-ah) to thinking it's just tacky as hell.

I also hate names such as "Storm", "Bliss", "Starr", "Lace" etc. I just keep seeing a job as a stripper in the poor baby girl's future......

Hah, that reminds me of this one time in my maternity ward when a formidable old man angrily vetoed his granddaughter's suggestion that her newborn be named 'Candi'. In his own words: "I don't want my great-granddaughter having a name that makes her sound like she dances on tables for a living." :lol

I completely agree with Grandpa! Where these parents get the idea for these 'unique' names is beyond me!

I think it's so important to name your child with care, your name is a huge part of your identity and if it's ridiculous then people in general are going to have a hard time taking you seriously.

The stupid spellings of otherwise reasonable names get me as well. Why change something if it isn't broken? Especially if it's a name that has been traditionally spelt a certain way for many years, your poor child will forever be correcting people. These parents are often the type to get really angry and annoyed if you misspell their child's name also....

I am so tempted to tell these people that my son's name is Jskfogjdwnfsoiuglhja'adhsiaf'sfuihyswf - pronounced "Joshua". Then tell 'em to suck it and spell it correctly!

    Awesome grandpa is awesome.

On a semi-ish related topic, the number of ways I've seen the name "Kaitlyn" slept are mind blowing.

Valid it may be, but anyone who names their kid Thor had better hope the child lives up to the name's legacy. Or so Badass of the Week tells me anyway :p
