Just got him, complete from ebay. He is amazing. I am scouring the galleries of him trying to figure out how in the hell to get him to all his different modes. I read in a thread on here somewhere that he has 5 modes. I know about gorrilla, robot, plane, and car. What is the other one?

One complaint: the blade-things on his forearms in gorilla mode and on his shoulders in robot mode are a pain in the butt.

Also: When I try to flip his robot head back into the turret, its very hard to uncatch the little tab that locks it in place. I'm just doing it forcefully. Is that right? There's not a release or anything is there?

Yep, he only has 4 modes. I dont think there is a switch at all to bring his head back, just to activate the lights, which is an automatic thing when his head goes down.

Hold both pieces of his cannon assembly -- the back and the front -- and start folding them. The head unlocks easily during this process.

Congrats on your purchase...I haven't fiddled with my piece in ages but the toy does take some time to get used to. He's one of the better TF toys out there.

Personally, I prefer Primal prime. The paint job and light button appeal to me more than OPOP, but both are very good, no, great figures.

A great action figure, maybe, but I've always thought that OP OP was a terrible Transformer design. None of his alt modes are remotely convincing.

Op OP is a amazing figure and one of my favs. I was really impress with the size of the figures and the bulky brute like style he had. And the fact that he had 4 modes was better cool.

I remember I bought Op Optimus at Toys R Us in 2002. They had that one left sitting there forever. I bought the thing thinking they'd have it discouted by then...but hell no, it was still full price! Haha. Worth every penny though, it really is a great toy.

Is the Primal Prime repaint worth tracking down on eBay? I've been tempted, but the prices have always been too much.

Optimal Optimus is a beautiful toy. Good catch, GogDog.
Primal Prime does improve on the design in one important way; you don't have to risk shooting yourself in the eye to look at the light... ;)

Ah the lights, see, the first time I tried it I didn't know the light button was the little white button. Long story short, I went to see the pretty lights and walked away with one eye.

And I didn't even get to see the lights.

Just checked e-Bay for Primal Prime and the cheapest of two I found was $89.00 plus shipping. Looks good but box or not I would wait and see if there is another one cheaper down the line, but if you want it that bad go ahead.

Still my favorite repaint ever. But it really depends on the ebay price and your budget. Cool to have, but not a must have.

Nah he's like he should be, robot mode, transmetal gorrila, and ground mode is just that, just there so he can speed across land, same for flight mode, just there so he can fly hehe.

It's a pretty cool toy, big and imposing looking...god-awful alt modes though.

I remember once Primal Prime was in this lot I saw with like 5 other Beast Machines toys, all in boxes, for only 55 bucks and I couldn't even afford it :(  What a deal eh
