Last night I tried to install Windows 7 via bootcamp on my MacBook and after the intalashion stalle dout on 95% for about an hour I cancelled out and removed the disk was all scratched to hell. It's like something is in there just cutting a groove into the disk as it spins. I put in a black tonight to test it out and same thing happend.

Anyone have any ideas on how to clean it out? Or should I write it off and get an external DVD drive?

Also have to look into using one of those disk repair kits to salvage the Win 7 disk.

It sounds like the drive was crushed. How is the alignment? Do disks go in easily and out as well?

Otherwise it just needs to be replaced, a very easy and quite cheap repair. I have done several. It should take a good tech about 30 mins to replace it.

disks seem to go in and out ok.

Is that something I can do myself or will I will I void the warranty or some nascence?
