Thank you for the review, Optibotimus. I am really on the fence about buying this release. I wish that it was on BluRay. I have a question for you. Is it full screen or widescreen?

I really hope that Hasbro and/or Shout Factory are not stupid enough to use this release as any sort of valid "test" to gauge the popularity of the show. Reasons being:

    1. A lot of people aren't going to buy it specifically because it's inferior DVD instead of hi-res Blu-Ray.

    and

    2. A lot of people are going hedge their bets by waiting for a proper full Season 1 boxset, which again, will hopefully in Blu-Ray format.

But I trust that these companies both realize this, so I'm not overly worried. Something tells me this is mainly for a quick-fix holiday release and/or impulse buy for parents, but that something much better is being worked on for 2012... hopefully in sync with the debut of Season 2.

yes a lot of people aren't probably going to buy it because it's DVD. I watched it, as i said, on a HDTV and a blu ray player and i thought it looked ok compared to the HD versions i have via iTunes. Most people just don't want to have to double dip. I personally don't mind since it shows the support for these dvds and when the market gets much bigger for blu rays...i have no doubt it'll eventually happen

As for your second point, i do agree...but i also disagree. Transformers Animated never had a complete season one. it was fractured just like TF Prime has started out...so we might not ever get a full set. Who knows

A pretty nice and informative review.

The special features don't seem to be too impressive, and yeah, I realize just by thinking about the episodes that all of their individual events don't really combine into a movie-like plot progression, but I'm still hoping to get this around the holiday season (especially with your comment that the sooner-or-later "Season 1" set might start with the sixth episode of the show).
