So I'm writing a speech for communication 101, on "Why Manual transmission is better than Automatic.

It's a persuasive speech and I could use some reference opinions to add to he speech.

Plus side: Manual gives you more of a feeling of power in that you control the gears and essentially the acceleration. Automatic is, well, boring.

Negative: City driving/heavy traffic can suck, having to shift from first to second all the time.

Manual makes me feel like a race car driver. Automatic makes me feel like I'm just driving.

I prefer automatic personally but I notce when my husband drives our cars (which are both automatic) he puts his hand on the gear shift (located down by the center console) like he is driving a manual transmission. I sometimes even get scared he is going to shift the car out of gear.

When driving long journeys, automatic can make you tired and lose concentration and doze off, since you're not doing anything. With manual you're always changing gear and keeps you 'on your toes', as it were.

OK, your entire position is faulty as Automatic is better.

If the driver is driving sensibly (which seems to be unusual anymore), fuel economy tends to be better with a manual transmission.

    "Persuasive Speech."

I hated writing those in school. Either you made good points and it was essentially an "Informative Speech," or you fucking lied and got rewarded for doing it.

I hate school so fucking much.

Well, having to shift gears means you have to concentrate more on driving and are less likely to get distracted.

    Hope that helps! :)

If you cite "people on TFW2005" as a source for a school assignment, you deserve whatever grade you get.

    Do your own homework.

No anonymous/semi-anonymous poster on the internet should qualify as an academic reference. Find more legitimate sources and construct your own argument from your own research. That's the only way to develop a strong, well-reasoned argument.

lay off the guy I am grading research papers right now. He never said he was using us as a source just as an opinion like a poll. OUr ideas may give him ideas like the hands free problem with a manual transmission.
I'm not even sure how you would sight anonymous people on a website in a works cited/bibliography page.
I scanned all my students research papers into turnitin.com without them knowing it. OMG so much plagerism. Monday shall be SO MUCH FUN!!!
To the OP if you plagerize something don't be stupid and use a ton of vocabulary words your teacher knows you don't know!!!!
Mozart's counterpoint texture was elloquently displayed throughout the sonata form much as to Beethovens, blah blah blah then kid probably doesn't even know what elloquent is let alone counterpoint!
