Hi I opened up a SS #22 MISB that i had. I dont have any other SS to compare him to but this is what i found. The wing on the right side is a little lose, it stays in place with no problems but comes off with very little effort. The red stripe sticker on one of the wings was not stuck properly, about 1/2 inch of it was not making contact with the plastic. Lastly, and i am not sure if the original was like this, but i find the arms to be VERY loose. The "up and down" motion is good with good resistance, but the "back to front" motion is extremely loose, there is no resistance at all. If i tilt the toy slightly backward, both arms swing back...is this normal? Everything else looks pretty good. AM
I have that reissue and my arms are the same. I stick little squares of cardboard behind the arms when he's in bot mode.
The D-22 reissue is probably the worst instance of G1 Starscream- the Encore reissue can be had at low cost, and does not suffer from the loose joints, while the TFC reissue offers an allegedly more accurate color scheme and a nifty accessory. I'd even place Hasbro CS SS over the D-22- its play value is not really compromised as a result of its extended projectiles, and only the cluster bombs really suffer from the lengthening. The null rays are only noticeable upon comparison to the original.
Hi I received TRU Reissue Skywarp today. Besides the ridiculous missiles, the build quality is significantly better than the D-22 Starscream. The joints are WAY better and has a more solid feel to him. I also noticed that the head is slightly bigger on TRU Skywarp than on D-22 Starscream. Which is more true to the original G1, big head or small head?
My D-22 Starscream was perfect. Smooth as silk with tight joints. My TRU reissue on the other hand suffered from the loose arm movements.
All the original Seekers I ever had, also had the loose "front to back" motion on the arms, while maintaining a fairly decent tightness for the up and down motion... so it sounds like the #22 is pretty much just like the G1 product. zmog
That is so wierd. My Skywarp TRU is so much better....apart from the missiles i am very satisfied.....i looked around to buy some G1 launchers and long missiles for him, the launchers can be easily found for pretty cheap, the long missiles are hard to find and crazy expensive.
Its hard to tell from the picture, but Skywarp's head is slightly bigger. There are also other slight differences in the mold, as well as the cockpit glass, it is very loose on the D-22.
I only have loose arms on my TRU Starscream. My TRU Skywarp/Thundercracker/Dirge are all built very well and tight. If only Tomy would sell their missiles so I could get rid of the crappy American versions
I have the Hasbro CS Thundercracker and Skywarp and my story with their null rays when friends ask is they are overcompensating for a lack of robowang.
The arms were loose on this series of seekers, all 6 figures exhibited this. This was the star scream and the convention style reissues. I believe it was fixed when Hasbro released the seekers here.
