The Club Store
More Specifically - here
it's a lot of money, but i found it to be well worth it, it's a hell of a set ~ totally blows me away.
Cool, good for them. The success of this year's exclusives can only mean good things for the future.
i really can't imagine what they'll do next year. Classics doesn't really make sense, they'll be too new and Hasbro's doing most of the repaints and remolds that make sense...
probablly some mix of E and Cyb molds...
did they clear out last years sets?
Actually I'm surprised there are any sets left to be perfectly honest.
But it's only 38 and we all know that won't last through the night
IIRC they had a couple hundred left over of last year's set.
To be more exact they found unsold sets that they mistakenly thought were sold
the 2005 sets are are still on sale at the club store.
I'd love to get another set to replace the one I sold (OP, I'm going to mail it Saturday, I get paid tomorrow! Sorry it took so long. ), but I just can't afford it right now. If they had gone up 4 days from now, then maybe. Oh well, I went to the con, that was enough.
I think it's safe to say that those are never going to sell at that price. And I wonder how many of the loose figures are still available?
Too much money for too little product, IMO. I would have loved to get the Megatron and Waspinator, though.
Yeah, if they didn't sell at the convention, they'll never sell for that much online. When they come down to $100-150, I'll pick one up. As far as the '06 Con set goes, I just want Primal, so unless someone wants to split-up a set, I'm not going to buy the whole thing. It's cool that they did well though. Hopefully we'll hear something about Astrotrain soon.
I'd buy a $100 one in a heartbeat, but MC has sworn that they'll never lower the price "to keep the market value up."
*Sigh* I miss the days of normal $40-50 priced exclusives. $250-300 is just too damn much and keeps them out of the hands of fans that'd really like to have them but can't afford them.
Read "We care more about money, than the fans".
Money schmuny! Give me something I'd actually give a darn about!
I'll gladly take an extra BC 2005 Ratchet if someone had a desperate need to unload one.
It's easier and cheaper to blackmail Hasbro into making a Classics version though.
Definitely. Best TF exclusives I've ever owned.
eh... what if you're the fan who bought the set at full price thinking it was a collector's item you would want them to keep up the price so that you can feel you were not screwed over in not only price but in collectability. Sure it's now available to anyone who didn't attend the convention but it's not available to everyone and their mother.
I guess they put it best at Botcon (paraphrased since it was a month ago) 'If Mattel sells Holiday Barbie and it sells out then people think it's a collectors item. Well then when Mattel puts out a million more and it's ends up on clearance. Well nothing's worse for a collector's item's image than a collector's item being on clearance." In the end it's not about the money, it really is about keeping a high collector's market for the Botcon exclusives to make them just that more special than RiD Megs, Tow-Line, Two Buzzsaw's, Arcee and a G2 Cyberjet in a box.
That's still essentially saying it's about money only with an "I got one and you can't have one" attitude attached.
