If Transformers are robots in disguise, then why do they have their factions symbol on in alt-modes? Wouldn't that give them away?

If they are truly robots in disguise, then the faction symbol would only appear on them in robot mode.

i think the point is that "car with funny symbol" is still a better disguise than "giant robot with a fake moustache and glasses*

When you say 'RID/Robots In Disguise' are you talking about RID the show/toyline or Transformers in general? Because even the realistic world of BayFormers had faction symbols on some characters in alt mode, even in the movie itself.

Normal cars today have Transformers symbols as my car does, but that doesn't make it a Transformer, sadly. I think the Cons in RID knew who the Bots were anyway.

I was referring to Transformers in general.

I also thought the general senses of transformation was to be able to hide from their enemies. So in that theory, the other factions "shouldn't" be able to recognize them when their in alt-mode. Other wise, what was the point in the first place?

Stalking red cars is not a great way to maintain cover.

There were times, in G1 and other series, that it seems the faction insignias werent visible to the other characters when in alt modes.

The faction symbols are so the Autobots don't get hauled to the impound lot by Tow-Line.

Well, the point of transforming into a disguise is probably more more blending in with the suroundings and hiding from the local populace rather than hiding from the Decepticons. For example: in the first Transformer movie when Epps deploys the first smoke signals, Starscream pretends to be an F-22 that's allied with the humans and flies overhead, a ruse that works until Ironhide transforms and informs everybody it's actually Starscream.

In a different format, this is also demonstrated in Spotlight: Nightbeat, where he takes on the alt. mode of the local vehicles (for simplicity's sake, let's say an Earth-like car) on Gorlam Prime and blends in with the crowd while he drives around looking for clues.

    :lol

Although you're talking about TFs in general, funnily enough, in RiD, the characters DON'T have Autobot symbols on their vehicle modes in the cartoon, for just this reason. The Japanese toys didn't have them either - Hasbro stamped 'em on there when they imported the line for the standard brand recognisability. I think the only exception would be Ultra Magnus, but he wasn't here for disguise.

And Brave Maximus. Being concealed underground and not disguised as a human city he didn't need to bust out any Autobrand remover.
