I don't mind the head gimmick as much as the glow guns and random clear plastic parts.

It's like people are too weak to counter the wimpy forces of that tiny little spring or something.

I want Soundwave to turn his head? I turn his head. The spring gives way and the neck slides up automatically to accommodate for his head colliding with his chest.

    It's not rocket science.

And Knock-Out's totally works as well, if you transform him properly, and pull his hood panel forward and down. Then his head actually gains the proper clearance to flip out.

Out of all of the RiD figures I have, Ratchet and Soundwave do have limied head range due to the automorph.

But Bumblebee, Arcee, and Wheeljack have awesome automorph.

Wheeljack's can hardly be called that. It's just a moving panel, and his head isn't even covered all that much before transformation.

Is Ratchet's head limited by the automorph, or by his collar?

And to reiterate, Soundwave's head articulation is not hampered by his head reveal gimmick at all. It's marginally hampered by Laserbeak's tail poking at his chin, but it's no effort to raise his head over it. Soundwave has a hunched neck that turns at an angle. Which is completely accurate to the character's design.

A big flaw is that the arms are often too long. They go down toward the knees if not further.

Usually accurate to the character designs. They're not human. They don't have to subscribe to perfectly human proportions. Or we could start complaining about how Megatron and Optimus Prime's chests are absolutely massive, or how nobody could logically fit their arms into Soundwave's "costume", etc...

Soundwave's long arms emphasize his inhumanity, and Cliffjumper and Bulkhead get big forearms because they're the brutes.

Random misses for where obvious joints should be. Like Voyager Megs, he NEEDS upper arm rotation and theres plenty of room for it IMO

    Ebay:
Fix Soundwave's head: Remove the little cone piece the flips in behind his head. Turn it around and put it back in.
    Boom. Instant neck.

Completely and entirely unnecessary, not show accurate, and then the thruster cone sits slightly crooked in vehicle mode.

The weapons are barely compatible with other figures especially the powerizer with the revealers
