I was watching the news, and they had a story about a young lady who was killed early this morning in a car crash. Turns out she was one of the night nurses I work with. It's weird, seeing someone you worked with, not just on the news, but, knowing that they are reporting her death. She was very young too, like 18 or 19. It reminds us of just how short life can be.

As I was walking back to my car today after class, I was thinking about how at any moment a piece of space debris could barrel out of the sky and smash my head in. I have no reason for why I was thinking about that, but the point is that any second, your life can end in a blink. It's crazy to think how we survive at all being surrounded by all the things that could potentially go wrong, especially in regards to autos. 2000 lb+ masses of glass and metal being operated by people you don't know, people you lock your doors to protect you and your property from, and yet you trust yourselves and your families to be out there amongst it.

Learn to appreciate life, cause you never know if an airplane engine will crash through your ceiling while you sleep (Donnie Darko reference).

That's really sad. A few months ago, a girl at my school died when she drowned in a bathtub. It wasn't the first time a student at my school or another one of my district's schools had died, but unlike the other times, which were either preventable (suicides) or at least somewhat predictable (medical-related), this was a freak accident that could happen to absolutely anybody, for absolutely no reason, with absolutely no warning. It got me in kind of a dark mood for a little while.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss. It's times like that that you really appreciate how precious and fragile life can be.

firehawc, of all the ways to die, I suspect that that's about as likely as being mauled by a plastic flamingo. I'm in no hurry to find out which religion is closest to the truth, but I would actually perfer to go out that way rather than several other methods particularly since I would have the distinction of being the first person to ever die from space debris.

Not sure why, but for whatever reason, remembering the series "Dead Like Me" makes this a little easier to take in, even if it's still pretty hard to read.

Which is why Im a "live for today" type and a horrible money saver. Not really a good thing, but yeah

I feel reaal bad for those people who get killed in freak accidents right after they retire.
