It's actually quite fun to see the evolution of certain characters and how often a name gets re-assigned during the history of this franchise. It beats the ever loving hell out of all the various Dukes and Snake-Eyes Hasbro has dolled out over the year. I mean how many different versions of a masked black ninja and a blonde haired, blue eyed First Sergeant do you really need in your collection before you get tired of seeing the sea of Dukes? At least with Transformers the engineering and alt modes change over time.
The only character that I buy in every possible mold is Jazz...but only in G1 colors(Alternators with Reprolabels)

One question I do have to pose to the one character collection group we've assembled here. Where do you draw the line as to what molds/mech/figures make it into your collection? Are you the Protoman type that collects everything (very impressive by the way) or do you take a more minimalistic approach to it? Such as currently I've limited to my Prime's to Non-Beast Primes, but who knows I may lift that ban at some point.
For my Rodimus collection, I draw the line at non-toy merch. Mostly. I have two iron-on patches but I'm not tracking down bed sheets, folders, party items, things like that. Toys, statues, and model kits I'll go for.
Though I do go the show-character completionist route with some lines, in other cases it's simply whether I like the mold/deco or not. non-Transforming toys usually don't make it no "Mighty Muggs Grimlock" or toys/repaints that are are just BAD! For all my Costructicons you don't see the "G1" Mixmaster from ROTF on my shelf.
Fixed the whole AM = Animated. Changed it to AN. Granted I do have Action Master Optimus Prime he is not on display. Also changed PM = Prime. Not to be confused with Power Master. Power Master Optimus Prime is on display. It is now PR. Most of the figures I listed are arranged according to series not character iteration. I have mini collections of G1 inspired Sideswipe and Mirage but I only get the ones that I deem cool. I don't need to have every bot that's been named SS or Mirage.
