OK, now there is a lot of criticism out there about ROTF and how it was less then par. One feature that many people note is how megatron was not the decepticon leader and was the fallens disciple. I somewhat agree with that and one little change to the movie that would have fixed that would simply be that the fallen is just a powerful, ancient ally. It would simple be that megatron is working with him because he was powerful and could control the harvester. There for he would not be taking orders from him but simply following his plan. Also if megatron was the one who sends the broadcast to the humans. I feel this would have redeemed megatron, and in a small way ROTF too.

 

ROTF would need a lot more changes than that in order to be redeemed in my eyes.

 

a proper devastator would help. also, a representation of how death isn't a "minor setback"

 

the complete removal of the humans would redeem ROTF in my mind

 

Get rid of the second all-spark sliver. That would cause a somewhat positive domino effect.

 

Get rid of Simmon's underwear scene and Devastator's Ball shots and it's already better.

 

There is no one thing that would redeem ROTF for me. There are a handful of things:

*The Fallen needed to be a better villain, and not a cliched robot Palpatine.
*Replace Skids and Mudflap with other main Autobots.
*Give the other Autobots time to shine with Prime absent - don't just "ground" them at the base.
*Cut the college scenes and the over the top humor.

 

The Fallen should have had a fight other than the final battle - personally, he should have showed up at the Forest Battle.

Right after Optimus decapitates Grindor, The Fallen shows up, giving Optimus a good ol' smackdown.

*I could see Optimus drawing one of his guns, then The Fallen draws his staff (looking back, it looks like it stores in his arm, then telescopes to full length/height) and swats the gun (shattering it) right out of Optimus's hand.

*Some classic TF dialogue to pad it:

Optimus - "You will not destroy this world as long as my Spark still burns!"

The Fallen - "I'm fulfilling my destiny...destiny that you cannot destroy!"

*The Fallen, after giving Optimus the ass-whupping of a lifetime, gives an evil stare to the camera. "Now 'fulfill' your destiny..." Optimus screams for Sam, then gets skewered by Megatron. The Fallen, still standing there, is delighted by what he sees..."The last Prime is DEAD!"

 

A much more polished script.

 

Bravo.

 

I didn't think ROTF was as bad as people made it out to be.

 

Two things: Get rid of Leo, and get rid of Simmons' ass shot.

I'd be completely satisfied with it.

 

After watching Transformers Prime I kind of wish they had done the Fallen like they did Unicron. A threat to both Autobots and Decepticons so it take Prime and Megatron to stop him.

But yea it would take more than just one change because look at all the changes made between Revenge of the Fallen and Dark of the Moon.

 

I loved everything about ROTF. So, I really didn't see anything wrong with it. I actually like it more than DOTM.

That would have instantly made The Fallen MUCH better! Would have made him a better threat, and give him more to do than sit around and show up at the end.

But I also agree that ROTF isn't as bad as people say. I enjoy it a lot

 

Massive plothole - the Fallen wasn't in that scene because he couldn't escape imprisonment without Optimus being dead. That's why they killed Prime in the first place.
Of course, if they made it so Megatron awoke the Fallen, and the Fallen could escape instantly, he could've participated in the forest battle

 

I agree about Unicron and the Fallen. They aren't decepticons any more than Apocalypse or Mister Sinister work with Magneto.

Not perfect, but I think the original script sounded a lot better. Fallen was trapped in some dimension and promised Megatron he would become a Prime if he released the Fallen. When Megatron found out he lied, he turned on him.

 

Take out the college scenes and replace them with scenes that actually advance the plot.
