Here is my largest project to date, Grimlock!
He stands just taller than a Unicron and is really bulky. He didn't fit in my light box so had to do the photos with all the curtains drawn (freakishly bright for england this week haha)

The transformation is really simple and the dinosaur 'kibble' can be removed from the bot mode really easily for display if that is your preference.

He comes complete with his double-barrelled blaster which he can grip in either hand.

    Custom chestplate
    Sculpted mouthpiece
    Hands are on balljoints
Dino arms are articulated at shoulders, elbows and claws
head has up/down and 360 degree movement
Several different shades of gray and black washes
    Custom autobot decals
metallic drybrushing with different shades of silver
Used pre and post shading through an airbrush on this mother!
    Durably sealed.

I learnt a lot from this guy, if I ever feel brave enough to have another go he will be much different. There are some photos on my photobucket with the flash on so you can see the details are not just from the lighting.

Please let me know what you think, also shameless plug he will be on eBay tomorrow most likely if anyone would like to own him.

I am not a fan of the build. The dino feet/bot hands/wrists look terrible. I do like the paint though!

    Ebay:
    Cripes, he's a big one!

As much as I love the bot mode, the dino mode is a bit out of proportion but kudos for the creativity.

I've got a similar steampunk-Grimlock on the way using the same Zoidzilla base, but he's going to have to wait until I get though multiple other unfinished pieces :S

The double Unicron forearms are just too bulky and the dinomode is too thin. There must be a lot of balance issues! If you like it, that's all that really matters and that you learned new skills.

As far as an altered universe mode goes, I like it. Nice use of old zoids btw :)

the paint was what I really wanted to push this time, I got an Iwata just before I did this so this was like my practice piece.
Can you define 'terrible' for me? what is it that you don't like?

    Thanks man

Dino mode does look a bit thin in the pics but it is deceiving, he can still out muscle leader class toy in this mode haha. Good luck with your projects man, I really like your stuff

Thanks, that was kinda the 'vibe' I had in mind

No he is steady as a rock! The forearms are bulky but hollowed out inside so not too much weight. They are so large they inhibit movement slightly but the joints are plenty strong enough.

Thanks man, I didn't want a scaled up G1 grimlock and thought the Zoid would work well, I think it panned out well and as I say, I learned a lot from the project.

I think what Death333 was getting at is that the legs/arms are rediculiously oversized for the figure. With that said, it's completely obvious that alot of time and effort was put into this guy. And as it was already stated, awesome work on the paint job. That is actually what makes this custom stand out for me.

A little off on proportions. But overall I would buy that. Needs a little more grit on the face to differentiate from the Starsceam head but man I love this

Nice attempt at Grimlock but the dino mode is lacking.

he is a brute of a figure, thanks mate

i see what you are saying but much smaller and then the dino mode wouldn't be as stable. thanks for the comments on the paint, i'm really trying to get the shading right from now on!

Sculpting is definitely something I wish i was better at! Thanks, glad you like it.

I wish I had 2 zoidzillas to sacrifice because I would have made the dino mode chunkier. Thanks

Yes definitely, I remember seeing that last year and loved it, only thing is it just didn't seem right having the godzilla crossover thing going and this was the only other 'robot dinosaur' I could fing for the alt mode. Thanks man, someone like you saying you like my paint apps is awesome, I must be improving:D

Thanks buddy, as I say i did want that look from the paint. He will be going on the eBay later today if you would like to own him.

I like it! The dino mode looks like something you'd see at a monster truck rally. Big, clunky, mean and destructive. Win!

And the head is bad at best.

    Can be fixed, therefore constructive.

Thanks Spoonman, I dont think a Grimlock should be all streamlined and graceful

Hey Kenjo, If its no bother, can you get me more views of him in Dino mode? Like the back and the tail?
I'd really appreciate it, as I'd like to see how you handled certain things. Thanks in advanced mate!
