Yeah, I grew up using PCs. My family's first computer was a Dell running windows 98. When we first got it, I remember thinking it was the most amazing thing ever. The thing crashed three years later. So, we bought an HP with Windows XP. The thing ran fine at first, but it got viruses, trojans, and malware all the time. We had to replace the mother board AND the video card, and the system is so damn complicated, you don't even know what you're doing half the time. I just put up with it, thinking there was nothing better.

Then, a certain teacher of mine introduced me to an Apple computer. It took me a while to get used to the interface, but I eventually fell in love with it. I talked my parents into buying me a Macbook for Christmas, and now it's the only computer I use.

I have literally never had a problem with it. The OS is simple and easy-to-use. No need for anti-virus software, no Vista, no need to buy a new freaking computer every two years. It's so much better.

So who else grew up using Windows and got "converted"?

Just be aware that "leading" topics like this will probably get closed.

I grew up with Windows, tried to go to Mac for a bit, but it wasn't really my thing. So I'm on Windows 7 now, and I'm loving every second of it.

^ Honestly, I wasn't trying to lead anyone - didn't mean for it to sound that way. Just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience.

I Had a HP Computer and then it crashed i sent it in to get fixed thankfully the warranty
was still good, it took 4 months to get it back
so I got it back and had it back for a month or 2
and it crashed again so I sent it again! and took 4 months again!

and guess what, it crashed again so I sent it in
and they told me because it wasn't the same problem that
it was before, that it was no Longer Under warranty and it would coast a lot
so they sent it back to me Unfix And I when't Strait to a MAC Book pro
and I will not be Getting a HP Ever Again :)

oh and My sister had a HP And it got so full of viruses that it wont even Work right
so She can't even use it, She is now going to Get a Mac as well

I just use what works best for me at the time. Windows, osx, iOS, etc... doesn't matter as far as I'm concerned so long as it has the features I need and it works consistently well.

Tha being said, both my MacBook and my iPad/iPhone have worked consistently well over the years, while I can only say the same for the pcs that I've built myself.

I got a Sony vaio FW laptop and it hasn't given me any of the problems you had. I also have a vaio from 2001 that's still alive and kicking. I recently got a Mac mini to do edit work from home and I love it. In my experience they are both great, but they are both flawed.

I was told so many times how macs were better for editing and graphics, but the people who edited must have been doing mom and pop videos, because when I push my Mac at work with layered composites, it crashes like a mother phoker. But my Vaio laptop takes the same work in strides. I love working on final cut, but I also like premier. So you're looking at someone who likes working on both. But macs are far far from flawless, especially when you push them. Sure, you can email grandma and get no issues, but start laying a 30 layer comp in after effects and youll start seeing their weakness.

I actually started by using a Commodore Amiga. Then went to using a MAC, and now I won't even touch a MAC if I can help it. I've used Windows OS since Windows 98. Don't get me wrong. Nothing bad about MACs, I just don't like them. Everyone says they get tons of viruses when using Windows. Strange.......I've never had that problem.

I love it how Mac users believe they will never get a virus. It can happen. Doesn't happen very often, but once more people start using Macs more, viruses are going to be made for Macs more. Theres a reason antivirus software is made for macs now.

On a side note, my sig is very appropriate for this thread ;)

I cant say i will never go back. Had my macbook for a year and i love this thing everything but those junky maglock adapaters. That sad i still run my windows desktop but they are for different uses. My desktop is for gaming due to much greater support and my mac is for well everything else.

Been using a MBP for the past two years now, and just love it.
Will I ever go back to Windows for anything other than games? Maybe, if a windows laptop can give me a touchpad on par with the one on MBP, a magnetic power plug (don't know how many times my laptop would have crashed on the floor if it wasn't for that plug) and as little hassle with viruses/malware as I've had the last years.

Very happy I went Mac, that's for sure :D

You obviously don't use it for porn (irresponsibly) then. That's the vector for 90% of the viruses and malware out there.

I am a Windows supporter. Do not like Macs or there OS. Plus, if you have good antivirus software, like Symantec, you don't get lots of viruses. I don't.

And each version of Windows is more secure than the last. Especially if you step away from that screen door on a submarine called Internet Explorer.

I love when people come into our store and spout off that crap. Im not a fan of macs, the store I work for is an apple service center and it seams like 99% of the people who bring their macs in are rude impatient pricks. I get the "macs never have any problems" line several times a week. Anyone elese here an apple tech? If so what do you think of the new gsx system?
