Not only is that video beyond old, but Hasbro has stated time and time again that they CANNOT use a Beetle as Volkswagen does not want their brand to be involved with the Transformers brand.

'scuse me. Geez, I just thought it was cool first time I have seen it. Still they could at least use another small car, Ford focus or a Cooper.

they could have, but it would look way to out of place and cartoony to be in a realistic movie setting.

Sure it looks awesome to us fans, but wouldnt work for people just wanting to see a movie.

Maybe a Camaro doesn't fir your idea of Bumblebee but maybe Bumblebee isn't the same character as we are used to and the Camaro fits that personality.

I like the Camaro. Hate the robot mode. Absolutely detest the gratuitous use of a G1 character's name.

It's the "This video is BEYOND OLD" comment. And Shipley is right, it was uncalled for. Not everyone here has been posting here for xx years like the rest of us. We all need to chill with the "OMG THAT'S SO OLD YOU NOOBS" ... besides, only I get to act that way, it's my birthright.

And the actual reason is because of Herbie (Disney's movie). VW was all for the movie incarnation.

Whether that be the case or not, I think that's a great reason to make Bumblebee not a Volkswagen Beetle. A movie about a boy who's beetle with the mind of it's own just two years after the release of "Herby: Fully Loaded" would not go unnoticed. We should all send thank you letters to Dreamworks/Paramount and Hasbro for saving us the pain of hearing comparisons of Spike/Bumblebee to Lindsay Lohan/Herby by every general audience goer.

I guess here is a place for me to ask a question that has been on my mind since Alternators started...

Why cant they just make Bumblebee into a Mini-Cooper?

i think the only character that hasnt recieved a new alt-mode is optimus. (he's still a semi-truck)

overall, im pretty happy with the choices. freshens up the old franchise a bit.
did anybody cry about alternator smokescreen being a WRX instead of a 280z?

Sure he has. Optimus is a new type of semi, just as Bumblebee is a new type of car.

This is turning into another standarized dismiss for more traditional designs, and it has no base due to recent successful comic book adaptations.

Apparently, at one point in time, there were discussiosn among Hasbro / Takara to get the license to make a minicooper - which would have been Bumblebee. The attempt did not work, and the discussions between Hasbro / Takara and Mini fizzled. Since then, Mini has not been too keen on any kind of major licensing.

As for why have Bumblebee as a Camaro in the new film? Look at the major alt modes in the movie thus far. Most are from the same car company. From a legal standpoint, it's easier to get a license from a few companies for many vehicles than get many licenses for fewer vehicles.

Yes because the detail given to a character in a comic book would totally translate straight to the big screen.

Because the audience for a Transformer comic book is the same as for the biggest action movie of the summer.

Because crazy distorted bendy-metal action translates well to precise CGI modelling.

    Oh, yeah!!!

Another standarized dismiss. The "audience" is well aware of who Optimus Prime is. It reached #1 comic when DW started, right after a gigantic hiatus. Transformers has been around for 22 years, and deserves the same respect of any other current pop culture icon.

    :throw
Are you saying all you relate to is bendy-metal action when you think of Transformers? You're really not in position to argue here.
