Okay, seriously, what's up with those Armada-Optimus arms? I thought these were Alternators toys we were looking at....

All who agree that the Alternators line has now officially jumped the shark, say Aye.

He looks cool, looks like his G1 self, has the cassette tape look on his chest. But that doesn't look like Rumble's head. I'll buy it regardless. They should make Frenzy too. And Runamuck and Runabout. I don't like to buy repaints of toys I already have, but when their duos like that I feel inclined to.

 

Man, am I ever glad I logged on today. Between this wonderful little automatic addition to my Alt collection and the VP repaint, I'm gonna be sooooo broke. And my b-day's in February!  

Just gotta love the cassette detailing and the pile drivers.  

 

I like it. I can't wait till it comes out. I hope they do a Frenzy too.

 

The most standout feature of this robot was always his giant piston piledrivers I can't believe so many of you are distressed about a lack of hands  

Sure robots with hands are nice but does it really matter here? Lots of them (New Quickmix and Menasor, Omega Supreme) just have guns or claws and thats what makes them unique  

 

Now repaint that bitch into Frenzy and remold him into Rewind! YEAH! So awesome looking.

 

I love how almost everyone on the boards has said they want a Blue Frenzy repaint of this guy... how about we wait until THIS toy comes out first  

It's funny when fans want a repaint of a toy that isn't even out (or even announced) yet.

I will always go by what the cartoon showed me as a kid. RUMBLE IS BLUE!
I accept this red guy though...I think I will name him....errrr.....let's see.....Frenzy!

 

The cartoon may have been the only place to call the blue one Rumble, but it was also the biggest most influential media source. Go back to 1985 and ask a class of kids what color Rumble is. You may get a couple "reds" from those that have the toys, but most will say "blue".

So on my shelf, this will be Frenzy. I can see this as the first alt that a straight repaint won't be hated on ( like Richochet and Rollbar ).

 

I look forward to the "Frenzy" repaint as well as this one. Hope both come out from Takara as BT/BTA.

I like the new alt, but I also agree that the original design was cooler, since it had better proportions, and kept all the cool stuff this one has, like the chest details. Anyhow, that's all moot now.

 

I dunno.

I really, really liked the design sketches. Not only was the transformation scheme very unique, but it also yielded a sleek spindly robot with big ol' popeye arms. That would have been a unique addition to the line and a pretty cool recasting of the G1 original.

I imagine that the orginal design didn't work at all and the final here is what we got.

For some reason it leaves me cold. I do think I'll warm up to the design, but at this point the overall bulk and the huge shoulders doesn't look that great to me.

Oh well. I'll buy it, it's a Honda.

 

Earlier I said the head looked "too pointy." I was obviously comparing it to the Toon head. Looking at the original cassette toy, his head is pretty much the same shape, although now I think it's not wide enough.

Dont most Alt heads go by the Cartoon model rather than the toy? Seems like an odd choice in this case, but maybe they thought the toon model was too simple.

While I like most of the colors on this toy, I think a different head color would make him look much better. Powder blue eyes, black face, and pewter helmet, I'm not really diggin it. The original silver face/black helmet of the toy would look much smoother (not to mention red eyes of the cartoon).

Maybe the question was probably asked in this post, but is Rumble a repaint, a remold, or a completely new design all together? I'd never thought I'd see the day that he's the second of Soundwave's Cassetticons to get the Alternator treatment, that was cool!
