[link=http://www.unicron.us/tf1985/]This page[/link] lists all the transformers that came out in 1985, but it lists six that aren't pictured. Three are called "Omnibots" and three are called "Powerdashers?" What are these transformers, and why aren't they pictured?

Keep in mind I'm a total newbie, hence my screen name.

Tfu.info is your friend. They got pics and info on nearly every tf toy. The only exceptions being some really hard to find Japanese toys, and some of the most recent ones. For some reason he hasn't updated in about a year. No one knows why. Still the single best online resource for looking up info on the toys, though.

 

They were mail away exclusives back in '85, the Omnibots were pretty decent. Powerdashers were fun but very basic - had one that I thought was a Gobot for years and years!

 

omnibots and powerdashers are like the TF version of your relative that never gets invited over for thanksgiving.

The Omnibots were pretty damn cool, if a bit small compared to the rest of the Autobots. Its a shame they weren't on the show. Overdrive is my favorite. I got the other two as a kid but didn't score him until recently.

The Powerdashers on the other hand were so awful (I had the jet car) they helped push me out of TFs by the following year.

 

I always enjoyed the mail away flyers. Something to the effect of "Order them now or they will have to fight in another Universe!" Since then I've always looked at Transformers I could never get or afford as "Transformers fighting in another Universe"

I can just picture that Universe now, full of Lucky Draws, and a few Brazil Bots and eHobbys.

I remember back in the day my sister and I clipped our robot points and mailed away for these guys. She ordered one of the powerdashers, while I ordered Overdrive. I ended up getting mine, she ended up getting a note saying that her powerdasher was out of stock and that she should select a different character. So, she ordered Downshift instead -- or maybe they just sent her Downshift instead, I can't even remember anymore. Man, that was a long time ago.

 

My little sister was a TF poseur too. She wanted TFs because mom bought me one and she didn't get anything.

I stole her Grimlock and he is now chillin on my TV.

I want the other Powerdashers and Omnibots. I have Overdrive and he's cool for a little guy. I also have the jet dasher. He kinda sucks. His leg is broken.

 

The omnibots were very nice. Overdrive was my fave and he's pretty worn out now. I need to find a newer one and a Downshift which I never got back in the day.

 

The Omnibots are cool little guys...and I agree with the consensus that Overdrive's the best...cool alt mode, decent bot mode, and flying car mode!!!

 

i like the ferrari guy too. i think of him as magnumPIbot.

 

Omnibots were the sh*t. I love Downshift, he's my fav.

 

My parents were pretty gender-neutral in the toys they gave, so my sister had a number of TFs. Off the top of my head -- Downshift, Powerglide, Windcharger, Cliffjumper, Bumblebee, Goldbug, and freakin' Sludge. I kept them for years, including keeping all the weapons together. In spite of, or perhaps because of, the fact that her house is horribly cluttered with all sorts of crap, she insisted on taking them back a few years ago and has them on a random table in her bedroom for no apparent reason. The only concession she'd give me is she let me keep a Windcharger, as she had received a second as a gift when we were kids. Now, most of them I don't care about as I've acquired my own elsewhere, but I'd love to get that Sludge and possible Downshift from her. Grrrr.

dood i totaly love the Powerdashers they r some of my fave tfs. coz the r freaken odd looking. im still looking for the jet one.

 

I know! I had a friend over last night and she was all "Let's watch Transformers" and I put on Fire in the Sky and she was all "Oooo Starscream is a bitch, I like him!"

Dammit, she needs to like Skyfire instead.

I got the drill powerdasher way back when, and followed that up with Camshaft (loose joints now with a broken tab on the back of the head that got replaced with (ick) blutack). Tried getting Downshift, the other Omnibot I really wanted, but got a reply saying, "there were none left in stock, so instead we hope you enjoy Blast Off and Strafe."

They were no Downshift, but they were fun.
