First I would like to thank those before me with their great totally custom/GDO Springer wheel mods. I wanted my springer to have beefier tires. He just comes across to me as a bruiser sort of Ground vehicle. I decided to use the arms, shoulders, and ball joints of a PCC Monster Truck figure, whose name escapes me. The wheels do rotate.

Did the wheels come from either Mudslinger or Salvage?

I'll do my best to explain the process for this.

    1. Standard stock image of the Donor, Mudslinger.

    2. Detach the shoulders from the body. Here you have the back wheels for Springer. You'll notice the fists of the arms, dont really fit for the customs needs. So I took a dremel with a cutting wheel and removed them. Sanded the parts down.

    3. The next part is tricky, you want to attach these parts to the chicken leg in the back, but dont have a way to. at the shoulder, you'll see a gap where the ball joint connected. You will need to clip it, just enough that it clicks into place. At this point it will not rotate.

    4. You will have to either use a cutting tool or a blade to cut away at the shoulder piece to create a gap, so that the piece will move up and down freely on the chicken leg peg. May take a bit to find the right amount of cut to make the piece work smoothly. Once your done and happy with the outcome. Sand a little, clean, then paint/gloss to your liking.

    [IMG][/IMG]

    [IMG][/IMG]

    5. Now two things need to be done with the torso. First, with a pair of spruce clippers, you just cut the shoulder tires free, This make take some work. Once they are off, youll see a gray piece of plastic in which the pin spins around on. Don't cut too much, youll want to take a blade and trim this circular piece even, so it rotates freely.

5b. back to the poor torso, you will see the shoulder ball joints with the blue head on them. With a dremel and cutting wheel, I followed the lines on the ball joint and cut through the plastic, once I couldnt cut around it, I used the spruce clippers to cut it free.
At this point, the ball joint shaft will be too thick to fit into the cannons, so you can cut some of the plastic around it and see if it fits correctly into the cannons.

5c. Now the ball joints head needs to be sanded down a little so it creates a wider area on top. The reason for this, is to create a surface wide enough that will bind to the circular spinning area of the shoulder wheels. Once this is done, place glue on the ball joint head and peg it to the circular gray part of the shoulder wheels. Let dry. If done correctly it will spin freely. Should look something like this:

That's it, You just made Raz's wheel mod. Hope this clarifies things, and hopefully helps.

I don't really like cutting my figures but to be honest I only bought Mudslinger because he came with the Stunticons so I might give this a shot.

I definitely like the beefy look Springer gets from your version.

one thing springers feet come apart so you can slip something onto that peg with out cutting.
But great looking mod. How well does he stand?
