    I'm so puzzled by this...

I was gingerly placing the figure back in his tray and the leg didn't quite drop into the moulded slot... and before I could adjust it, the hip joint--just snapped under the figure's own weight!!

    WTF?!

Astounding. This figure has only been handled lightly... never kept in extreme temperatures, barely exposed to light, only transformed a handfull of times. Is this a documented weak point? Or was I the lucky guy to get one with a moulding flaw?

Consider yourselves warned...at my expense. :(

Is there anyone who has left over parts from a kitbash who might be willing to sell this piece?

    Sorry, that was funny...

Sorry to hear about your Prime, maybe with the announcements of a re-release you can find one cheap on e-bay.

Most possibly a moulding flaw. My MP Convoy has been mandled a lot and he still holds fine.

Sorry to hear about the bad news :(

Seems to me that this kind of thing only happens to people who only transform their figures once or twice and then put them on the shelf.

I think it's the stress of maintaining the same pose for a year.

    It would make ME snap.

That never happened to any of my Transformers, except one, but it had a defective part. Luckily the 'implosion' was in the same year of purchase and the TF was easily replaced.

Anyway, I have some Transformers that have been standing in place for over twenty years- aside from gentle dusting, they have never had a problem. Sometimes decals dry up and fall off, but they can be reattached or replaced.

Sorry to hear about the bad news. Make sure that Hot Rod toy doesn't get his hands on the Matrix. :D

When a 20th anniversary/MP Prime goes on line, there is great joy. But when a 20th anniversary/MP Prime is broken, the universe weeps.

    And that $4!+ is funny!

I think I'll just leave mine in the box and the rubbermaid bin from here on. I don't care for it much anyway. Makes an impressive piece when someone comes over to see the collection, but Prime spends most of his time in storage. Hiding from Hot Rod.

Just to shoot down the "holding a pose=stress" theory, my Prime has been in truck mode the whole time. I doubt there was much stress on it at all.

As for parting the figure out... maybe. I haven't given up on finding a replacement hip.

People get hip replacements in their 60's and 70's... Prime is millions of years old so I guess he is doing okay. :p
