Have been talking about this for months and yet found no time to get started. Well, here's a 2nd shot at HOS Optimus, at 6.5" tall. Not much to show yet but I'm sure this will be new to some of you guys.

    Update:16/09/08
Parts are all milled out. It's probably gonna take another week to assemble the figure together and sort out the kinks before molding so stay tuned.

    Update: 19/09/08
    Assembly of upper body completed.

    Update: 30/09/08
Partial completion of lower body and leg.

    Update: 03/10/08
Completion of legs: +modifications to leg sliding and foot locking mechanisms.

    Update: 30/12/08
Completion. Yeah!!! Prime's finally complete. Just going through my last round of inspection and minor tweaks for joints in connectors. Here's the train mode. The train is approx 8" long from the tip of the front to the end of the trailer.

    31/12/08
Bot mode pics up. Molding should commence tomorrow and probably take some 2-3 weeks to make enough sets for efficient casting.

    15/01/09
Assembled first piece from first mold. The parts are pretty ok but can be improved. Lots of effort required to assemble....

    25/02/09
Finished drawing instructions for transformation. There are slight mistakes but the heck with it...

    11/03/09
Pics of the colored kit assembled/uncolored. Colors will probably be lighter to increase the resin strength as the figure is pretty flimsy now with the resin so saturated.

    12/03/09
Fixed loose joint problems and painted up the red/blue scheme.

And if there are other issues not addressed in the blog page, email me at griffith76@gmail.com

    Cheers!

HOS Prime lives! He lives! :)  Cool, glad to hear there's life in the project yet... you still planning on doing it as kits or will he be a one-off now?

EDIT- Read your blog posts, so question answered. Cool :)

Awesome. I picked up the kit from Hal -- sorry it couldn't have been through you but with mfg costs and the issues you ran into, it's understandable. Hopefully, you get some kickback from it. Still can't wait to see how this one turns out!

awesome. I think it'll be more successful at the new smaller size.

Thanks guys for the support! Well I won't stop trying until I've made all the figures I wanted for this series and the ones from GI Joe, or until Hasbro does.

We'll have some real updates when all the parts are ready for assembly in a few days' time.

I wish I can afford a 3D printer. I'm using old technology, subtractive rapid prototyping (SRP) aka CNC milling. So its basically cutting from a solid block of material with a cutter that's very much like a drill step by step and layer by layer

    Thanks Tony!

Grock, Hal's still handling the large one. Materials are terribly expensive here at my location so I can't afford to have it molded decently at 10". This one is smaller at 6.5" and slightly simplified. I've reduced the number of parts of the large one before sending it to Hal by combining certain parts and made the trailer able to open up.

Well if this is successful I'll be moving on to Megs next.

Sweet! Glad to see that you're continuing with that. Nothing against the fantastic scratchbuild by Lobo but I can't wait to see your take on it.
