This ends it. Are they racist or not.
Not to me.
I just posted this thread holy crap! You have clicking skills like a ninja!
no, because im not racist, i dont look at characteristics of robots and say they must be a certain race.
I don't think so. I'm sure they would treat all races with the same respect as any other.
Not a bit.
I don't think so no. Not even in the slightest.
And people that do are just looking for something to hate on/be offended by.
You have to be stupid to think that.
I wasn't personally offended by them but to claim I don't see why others have perceived racist undertones there would be absolute denial
No, I think you can have a TF who has an accent/attitude that isn't "generic white American" without it being racist. Hell, if all the TFs had the "generic white American" accent, people would be complaining it's racist that the TFs are all white.
I think the accusations of racism are due to (a) people reading into it a lot, (b) people blowing it out of proportion to generate page views on a website by having a "controversial" story with a connection to a popular movie and/or (c) people trying to promote their own agenda.
We (or children watching the movie, according to Bay) are supposed to like, identify with, and cheer for these characters (whether we actually do or not). Racism doesn't make sense in that context.
I agree with all of you (except for the people that said yes)
Twins are NOT RACIST!
I remember reading some article claiming the twins were in "blackface". First: How does something that metallic look like blackface? Sure, they have big lips like in blackface, but big lips aren't exclusive to a single race, as every race has the capacity to have people with large lips.
Second: How is using gangsta slang racist? Sure, they speak like gangstas, but to call that racist is racist itself, because it's stereotyping. We have whiter than white kids emulating the gangsta persona, and almost every country to this point has at least 20 rappers to call their own who dabble in the bling.
I disagree entirely. They're literally two dudes who haven't grown up and like to act tough. AKA, wankstas. They wanna be G, but they ain't nothing near it. Thats all. Critics, stop reading too deeply into this. Please. On with the show. Curtains. Goodnight, and good luck.
I certainly didn't detect any overt racism with The Twins. They were just silly, goofy characters that talked bigger than they kicked!
Not to mention it was those very faces that spawned that "Herp and Derp" crap with people assuming they were going to be dumb inbred hillbilly redneck-formers.
i just wanted to enjoy the movie, i honestly wasn't concerned about who sounded like what. no they're not racist.
Just curious, how does everyone write off dialect like "that's cos you a pussy"?
I thought it was funny >_>
