Or shouldn't new york be the safest city in all of comics.. I mean really!!! Lets start a list of all the Heroes that we know of that "live" in New York City. Damn, if I was a villian, I would definetly relocate to North Dakota... Lets see how many we can name, the more obscure the better... I'll start with Johnny Storm aka The Human Torch!!!

After the 50 State Initiative, currently being implemented by the Pro-Reg side in Civil War, I'm not sure there'll be ANY states that are really "safe" for villains. :)

Except for maybe the state that the Great Lakes Champions (formerly known as the Great Lakes X-Men who were formerly known as the Lightening Rods, who were formerly known as the Great Lakes Avengers) are assigned too.

This is one of the reasons I like DC. All of the fake cities like Gotham, Metropolis, Keystone and Central, Coast, etc. let DC's heroes spread out. You don't get five hundred heroes fighting crime on the streets of New York, two or three in Los Angeles, and screw the rest of the country.

Metropolis has STAR labs and used to have Cadmus. That's created enough weirdness and mutants to keep most of those guys busy. Plus, there's enough guys stupid enough to come after Superman and stay in the city after they've been beaten.

Not exactly where i figured this thread would go, but entertaining none the less. In DC comics I feel that the heroes are treated more like GODS instead of Superheroes! So Even if they are centralized in those cities aforementioned, they have GLOBAL reach!

You're kidding right? haven't you read any Marvel comics? I forget what I read this week but one of the lines is "And New Yorkers are reminded of why their insurance rates are the highest in the world." Also in Gravity, Spider-man talks to Gravity about the destruction his battle caused. "It'll be cleaned up tomorrow like nothing ever happened."

I doubt it would be like Superman Returns where everything that is going wrong always goes okay. The battles alone would cause a severe amount of property damage and I doubt no one at all gets hurt in those instances. Hell, I bet ERs get flooded.

That's what I'd like to see a comic about that ties into Civil War. Where do regular citizens stand on the issue. Firefighters, Cops, ER staff. What is their line of thinking in this issue?

I thought Onslaught tore up NYC way back when. If that's "safe", I don't wanna know what "un-safe" is..

:lol  I guess the Ninja Turtles could still protect NYC.

I once saw a TV special about where all the Marvel heroes live in NYC, Spidey, The Avengers, Daredevil, Dr. Strange, Punisher. It was interesting to see. Not to mention Cable made his base in Hell's Kitchen once. Plus you've got the X-Men just an hour or so away in Westchester. The only DC hero I know of in NY was Kyle Green Lantern.

Theres actually a lot of crime in Toledo ... just most of it isn't stuff you'd need a superhero to take care of: "quick Ironman- use your repulsor ray to stop that guy from urinating on that building!" "Oh no Thor, use your mighty hammer Mjolnir to stop that guy from smoking crack!"

Actually, I'd use Mjolnir on the guy urinating on the building. One smack crushing Mr. Happy would guarantee he would never, ever pee on a building again. :p

The Great Lakes Avengers including Squirrel Girl have shown up recently in Cable & Deadpool.
