http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/edinburgh_and_east/6897494.stm I'm beginning to wonder if there's any sense left in the world!! You'd think people would be more likely to be offended if people drove around with '666' on their numberplates (I almost had that on my personal plate but my mother's superstitious so I thought better of it) but that's perfectly acceptable. Snot is our word for boogers or bogeys btw if you're not familiar.
I don't get why only Edinburgh is getting it changed? From what I'm reading the decision was made by the DVLA and had nothing to do with the city, so what's so special about Edinburgh that they can't have regular plates like the rest of us?
Talk about too much time on your hands....I mean I could understand pulling the plate with SHI7 on it. I mean who wants to drive around with SHI7 on their car?
They way our car plates work now uses the first two letters to represent where the car was registered then the numbers are the date. 0 is March, 5 is September, then the year. The rest of the plate is random letters. So a car from Cardiff registered now would be CA07 XXX. The SN is actually from Dundee so Edinburgh registered cars would have different letters, but I guess if you're from Dundee and have a new car then you'll have to take the bus or train to Edinburgh. Explained clearer here http://waxxtm.com/registrations.html In a nutshell that's why its a local problem.
What? No it isn't. They do not produce license plates with three sixes on them unless they're vanity plates.
I find the fact that they changed the plate so they would not offend people offensive, so they need to change it back in order to keep from offending me.
Exactly, we do have rules in place so people can't make offensive words on their personal number plates, but having 666 on there is fine. I was going to have S666 MOR as my plate on my Lexus.
I don't think you read the article properly. There's nothing stopping you from getting a SNOT vanity plate.
Don't know about you're neck of the woods, but they make 'em in the states. A friend of mine had one. He thought it was hilarious. The ones that got me were the ones in Germany. I think it was in Furth. (not exactly sure how it works, but I think it's similar to what Scourge was saying with you location being the first 2 letters, but down know about the rest) I saw many an plate that the first 4 letters were FU CK 1234. Now can you imagine seeing that one as a 10 year old kid? I have to agree, there is no common sense left in the world. It's now "uncommon sense."
Holy crap..like there is nothing better to do than to find license places that say "snot" on them. My Dad wanted to get a CA license plate for the back of his 1988 Pontiac Firebird that said "SHTHPNS". Of course the CA DMV said he couldn't have it until he argued that it meant "SHOOT HARPOONS". Now he has a NC license plate that says (and I kid you not) "DHURT". Same car.. Heather
