My ps3 just died before my very eyes!!!! I had just finished a game of madden, clicked the button to save, and the damn thing turned off on me. It was flashing this red light and it didn't help when I turned it off and then turned it back on. I didn't know what it was, and as it turns out, I got the flashing red light of doom (first freaking hit on google when I looked it up btw)!!!!

I hate life...

That sucks dude, however I do not think I am far from that point my PS3 has been acting up for the last month. FYI, Sony will fix your system for $190 that includes shipping or $150 for a replacement system. Good Luck.

my PS3 got the red screen of death after 2 months, i simply took the thing back to target and it was repaced just like if it had been a faulty pair of jeans.

 

Mine's starting to sound like a Jet Engine every time I put Uncharted in. Ol' fatty might be needing a check up, and game saves be backed up soon.

 

Unless they raised the price, I thought it was just $150 to get it fixed.

Well when I called to tell Sony the issues I was having they had me run some system checks to see if I had any corrupted data. I called back to tell them I was still having the issue and that is when they gave me some prices. I told them I don't want a replacement system because mine is a launch 60gig and I want to keep the backwards compatibility and they told me $190 to repair my system. I THINK, don't hold me to it but $150 is for a replacement system.

 

Mine is a launch 60 gig with BC.

I sent it in, they sent me back a launch 60 gig with BC.

 

When I sent mine in for repair, it was a flat $150, and I got the same exact system back that I sent in, an 80gig BC capable MSG4 Bundle pack system. Even had the marking I put on it to make sure it was the same system.

 

Well then don't believe Jennifer at Sony because she is a LIAR!

Both Ziero and myself have had the same experiences sending the system back.

The one thing I have heard is that should you send your 60 gig back, it gets updated with the improved cooling unit.

So, repaired 60 gigs are like these Frankenstein models. All the old-god power with all the neo-tech advancement.

 

I would imagine that if it is repairable then they will repair it. If it is beyond so then you will get a replacement, hence the cries and screams of those who have lost BC after sending a unit in for repair.
