"TRON: Legacy" Plot? please take with a grain of salt Spoiler Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges) creates a "digital clone" of himself called CLU (Codified Likeness Utility) to work alongside TRON in the GRID, creating a new digital world, so Kevin can raise his son, Sam, and run ENCOM. CLU's programming dictates that he must garantee that the GRID works perfectly. During its creation, new programs called ISOs appear. They are not created by Kevin and actually have emotions. CLU believes them to be a virus and plans to exterminate them, but Kevin and TRON see them as the next stage of the digital evolution and attempt to stop CLU. In the process, TRON is reformated by CLU as a loyal soldier, RINZLER, and Kevin is trapped inside the digital world, as he has programmed the Laser to only be open from the outside and only allow the portal to the real world to be open for a few minutes. It is revealed that Kevin has created a program, contained within a disc, that'd allow digital programs to come to the real world. CLU wants this disc to take over the real world and exterminate the humans, that, much like the ISOs, he considers a virus. To protect the disc, Kevin constantly flees from CLU. CLU is unable to create new programs like Kevin, but can reformate existing ones, like he did with TRON/RINZLER. In a attempt to lure Kevin out, CLU sends a pager to Alan Bradley (Bruce Boxleitner), from Flynn's Arcade, the doorway to the digital world. His plan is for someone close to Kevin to receive it and come to the digital world, where CLU will kidnapp this person and force Kevin to turn in the disc in order to save him/her.
Wow that trailer is excellent. Just gotta figure out how to convince my girlfriend to see it with me.
