Wow, it's so much cooler in HD, though I really wish we could get at least a snippet of what Daft punk is doing. Really can't wait for this.
It's hard for me to decide on what are essential visual elements of the Tron universe - what must preserved for it to still be "Tron" - and what has to be sacrificed or updated. The original movie had perfect, abstract pieces of geometry that reflected a simplicity and distance in the public's perception of computing, but now personal systems and the Internet are messy facts of modern life, technical literacy is more widespread, and concepts that they could get away with summing up in a few shapes might not fly anymore. So, how to cope with this, while keeping the look memorable, distinct from every other CGI extravaganza? Hmm, well, as I saiFUCKING AWESOME.
This is awesome! I have chills. I remember watching the movie as a kid and liking it because it looked cool. Then I watched it recently as an adult, loved it and understood it. Love how clean everything looks. I was afraid that they would CG the hell out of it but this looks right. I don't know anything about the plot but I hope that they do something like hack into an old computer and see the old 80's world and then upgrade to the new modern one. End communication.
I read somewhere that the Tron world has been sitting on a server ever since and has evolved into an even more sinister place.

Tron Legacy Light Cycle from Comic Con 2009 | IshTalkers Went down there tonite - fucking awesome in person, pics and vid can't describe.
I'm liking all but one thing. Why'd they have to change the title? TR2N was perfect. Tron Legacy just sounds wrong.
I like what I'm hearing. Sounds like it would fit in with the first one, but it clearly has a modern sound. Can't wait to see what else they've got.
i remember seeing this footage last year after comic-con. ever ince i've been wanting to pick up the 25th anniversery edition DVD from a couple years ago but i keep forgetting when i go to best buy. looks freaking awesome, nice to see the trailer in HD finally!
I really like it too. It works well in an 80s context and the type of VGs around then, but how will it work now? Hmm. You'd be surprised, a lot of young kids (nephews, sons of people I know) also enjoy it. When I saw it I was stunned - the effects are still so good today. At the time I was like, George who? Lucas? Pfft - this over SW any day!
