I don't like the blue legs in his robot mod, but his vehicle mode would look like a mess if all that undercarriage kibble were black as well. The blue under there helps the actual form of the truck stand out a bit.

I can only assume you're referring to the (Movie) Masterpiece Ironhide rumor that came out of Toy Fair.

Takara's machinations are a source of debate, or even frustration, to many of us, but i don't know why they'd solicit a cheaper version of the same mold first?

My guess would be that a Hasbro rep heard "Ultimate Ironhide" and wires were crossed somewhere.

Note also, there was a rumor as to a (Movie) Masterpiece Sentinel Prime which has also come to nothing so far. As with Ironhide, Takara solicited the exact same Leader toy as Hasbro.

I have the Hasbro Ironhide and given the lack of any extra paint will be fine with that. Jetwing Prime, on the other hand, is an absolute must have. It's sad because I know I'm going to overpay to get it sooner rather than later, but i just don't care.

Yes I was referring to a Movie Masterpiece version. When the other 2 Movie Masterpiece's came out were there "normal" "ultimate" versions of them first?

^They somehow hasten their QC and paint apps mantra and just solicit the stuff directly from Hasbro's factory--The only difference is the bio card and Japanese stickers on the packaging. Hmm...maybe in a possible ''code of business ethics'' deal?! That's the only reason I can justify...a supply deal only using Hasbro's releases for Dotm. Maybe because Takaratomy are concentrating all of their creative/QC and primary efforts on non-movie toys?! MP-10 comes to mind...

The weird thing is they used different plastics and some different paint apps on many of the Autobot Alliance figures. That had gotten my hopes up the same approach would be applied to DotM for more accurate figures than some of the Hasbro versions (Sideswipe, Leader Ironhide)...but instead it's back to normal for Takara movie products. It makes the Autobot Alliance stuff look like even more of a fluke and now I wonder why they bothered changing any of those releases under that line at all. I'm glad they did of course, since I own a bunch...but it's still weird.

    Toy Fair? Hasbro rep? Huh?

This rumour came from Seibertron.com and their "overseas insiders". It just happened to be reported during Toy Fair this year, it wasn't from Toy Fair itself.

I believe TakaraTomy never released the regular versions of the Battle Ops Bumblebee and Leader class Starscream molds.

Jetwing Prime looks absolutely boss. Although that still doesn't explain the deal with his Trailer ALSO giving him a super mode. Does Prime have two super power ups in this film now, or is the whole Trailer thing just a way to justify giving him one? Not that I'm complaining that Movie Prime finally has the trailer...

"Ultimate ironhide" is a big pass. Sorry, but I'm still perfectly happy with the movie 1 Ironhide I still have in my collection, inaccuracies and all.
