I'm scratching my head over people saying he doesn't look like G1 Grimlock. Looks like a dead-ringer for him in both modes, without being the exact same toy again.

Guess it depends on what details people focus on for "Grimlockness".

He looks pretty Grimlocky, to me. Pity I was never a big Grimlock fan....

It's amazing how much better the G1 toy looks. I guess it's good to see that some designs stand the test of time. I'll probably still buy it because I'm addicted.

Amazing how polarized people are on this toy. I think he's the best looking deluxe of the line...

But yes, he would have been even better as a voyager. I'll agree to that.

You know what would have made me warm up to this figure a lot more? Transparent plastic! I always thought that was one of the coolest things, and the most iconic thing, about the original dinobots: they had that neat mix of brownish transparent plastic with chrome gold circuitry underneath (especially the column of Grimlock's neck).

It gave them the feeling of being more detailed than they really were, and gave them a neat "bionic" look. Classics Grimlock may use more modern toy-making materials, but it just looks cheap in comparison to the original.

So for me, the pros of this toy are:

    great robot head sculpt
    correct T-rex posture
neat robot chest design (with the big red circle)

    And the cons are:

    slender, non-stompy robot legs
    no transparent plastic
evil-looking, doglike dino head (vs. charmingly dumb-looking original)
    no wings in robot mode
    too small

Ah well.... I still like him enough to buy him, but I do think there are a lot of missed opportunites for this figure. Here's hoping for a Masterpiece Grimlock someday! :)

Forget Grimlock. What about Ultra Magnus or Galvatron? New scupts too. I want Ultra Magnus not a white Optimus and I want Galvatron not a repainted Megatron. A tri-pod Galvatron. and a Wheelie minicon!

Personally, I'm into the darker colors. I think the head should have been a little darker... to keep him looking more menacing.

One of my favorite G1 TF toys. Can't wait to have this Classic!

That could just as easily by why the old Grimlock sucks, if you ask me. I mean seriosuly, those hip joints are ball with swivel joints...about the best ever. See Noizemave, Deluxicron.

He's an updated Pretender Grimlock, not an updated 85 Grimlock

We already got that in Energon, and we know how well THAT turned out :p

I finally got to look at the images. Guess I wasn't paying much attention to it. the only thing i can say that i don't like is the feet. I don't like the idea that the head of his alt is his feet. I'll still buy it. but, he may stay in his alt mode in my collection. I fear ease in topling over

why? there's several other Tfs out there that have mouths for feet and they stand up just fine. (RID Megs/Galvy, Brimstone for example)

I agree with RID megs. and he is an example of a good job of having his head as feet. I could be wrong, honestly i would love to be wrong where grimlock is concerned . It just seems like the feet are gonna be a weak pont. The lower jaw just seems to thin to support a full figure, making it easy to fall back or not stand fully.

Oh yeah those hips. The same amazing new hip joints ones seen on Cybertron Unicron, and BWX 10th Megatron. ..

    Yeah they really suck..

    right...

So, which CHAN-board you from? :)

Anyway, it does sum up a few of the issues some folks have with C. Grimmy, such as the angry dino face, which becomes angry dino-face-feet. People have pointed out a strong resemblance to the Pretender version of Grimlock, which I can relate to. Wouldn't surprise me if they took a different approach mainly because Energon Grimlock came through not long ago, which regardless of what people think of him had a very similar transformation to Original Grimmy.
