I love stories like this. It's amazing how being deep enough under water prevents being cooked by radiation and thus extends life. The squids keep growing til they die. Longer lifespans = bigger squids. Creation Scientists believe that is what happened to dinosaurs. They're still around, they just don't get very big because they don't live as long. Dinosaurs were just old lizards. ( Reptiles also grow until they die. )

Chilean sea bass, an endangered species, is one of, if not THE most delicious fish ever.

I’m fascinated with these squids but I’m getting tired of seeing dead ones, they just look like a mess. Some one needs to get down there and get some good video of one swimming around.

    Mmm....calamari.

But yeah, that's one huge-ass squid. I wouldn't want to see that thing coming at me if I was underwater.

Yeah, why are they always killed? I would like to see some preserved in a zoo or sanctuary at least.

Just send those little robot subs.

I think in the last squid thread some one said they can’t survive the presser change when they get up around the surface so getting them to an enclosure could be crazy difficult. But it would be rad if there was an aquarium some where you could go see one.

Squids are mean fuckers. While octopi are seen as the intelligent, amicable cephalopods, squids are just dag nasty evil. They'd rip your arms out of the sockets and viciously sodomize any available orifice just as soon as look you.

They're my favorite marine animals. One of the most enjoyable animals I've minced into tiny bits in the name of exploratory science.

And one of the most enjoyable animals I've minced into tiny bits in the name of culinary ... well, not science; I just wanted to make fried calamari.
That is a big squid though.

I love baby squid. Haven't had any in ages though; probably close to 10 years. A friend introduced me to it; it's damn delicious.

Man, I could go for some squid now, in any shape or form. Mmm... Calamari.
