Hi guys, I'm heading to NYC for the week and just wondering if anybody knows of any cool toy stores that sell vintage and modern transformers. Any help would be much appreciated. Mods please move this if it's not in the right forum.

Maybe Toy Tokyo. Vintage exist only at shows, ebay, and some random mom's basement then brought out for rare yard sales that I hope to pillage someday.

I can't possibly ask my sister in NY to do some serious TF hunting, can I?

Mom's basement yard sale is all too intriguing. yummy. do share your find, if any

Toy Tokyo might have some. I was in the city looking around at the beginning of May and hit a few stores, Midtown Comics had a couple figures in a case upstairs and Image Anime had a bunch of Encore and other imports, but really the best bets are eBay and toy shows.

    Ebay:
    Toy Tokyo: 121 2nd Avenue

I've never been there, but from what I see on their site, it looks pretty sparse as far as Transformers are concerned. Also, they seem expensive for what they have...

I was there last week....not much TF's there and VERY expensive...they had a MP-01 Optimus I think but they had a ton of other toys from Japan...I dont think its worth going there for TF's since they really dont have much. I was actually there to get DotM toys and they dont even have that...

Toy Tokyo doesn't have vintage, they have encore. Be prepared to pay more than you would at BBTS.

    I was up there in May to visit my niece at NYU with a HUGE list of stores and I was dissapointed in every store except one!! I went downtown, underground EVERYWHERE!! The one place that I fell in love with was;

    Image Anime Co Ltd
242 West 30th Street, New York, NY 10001

They had Henkei, Encore G1, Classics and some Animated. I had to restrain myself from buying!! They also have a website if you do a search. Good Luck!!

I have bought reissues from them before but only online. Sometimes I have gotten better deals than BBTS. I'd love to visit their store one day.

Definitely a great shop, but they do focus more (and very heavily) on Gundams.

This place is awesome. I was there in June and they had loads of awesome stuff. If you're in the area it is certainly worth the trip. Midtown Comics has very little in the way of vintage TF stuff, and given how nice it looks I wouldn't be surprised if there were a few high quality KOs in there.

I've lived in Manhattan all my life.

There used to be stores that sold vintage TFs but they have all closed down for a while.
Toy Tokyo and Image Anime do NOT have vintage G1 for the most part. I go to Toy Tokyo primarily for their Godzilla selection but their TFs outside of a few encores and the like is quite lacking.

I got most of the TFs from my local ImageAnime and once everyone blue moon from Toy Tokyo. To me, ImageAnime price is only good during their preorder stage. Once the items are in stock, they tend to raise the price and that's when I turn to online. As for store that sell vintage TFs in NYC, rarely do I find one.
