Because Poker is a merely a game that you can play using "Playing Cards". Poker is a subset of Card Games. Card Games are played with Playing Cards. 52 Pickup is another subset of Card Games, but you don't call Playing Cards "52 Pickup Cards".

That's not crappy at all, you idiot. LOL

The price is not announced yet. Since it's released by the same company who made the metal box season set, and they've reissued the animated movie for thousand times.... this should be much cheaper.

So is this an "official" release? And is it exactly like the Sony one? If so I may need to get it just to have a Chinese release with our commentary on it.

Indeed!! You think with all the Transformers stuff coming out, G1 and movie, that there would already be a set out. The best part is the Tech specs and quotes!

Something came to my attention on the US release (after I bought it). It is NOT true widescreen. They actually CROPPED the full screen with black bars. I was really ticked. Don't believe me? Check it out. Old news ya, but man what a crock! When are they going to release a TRUE widescreen of this awesome freakin' movie??? :.(

This is one of those weird ambiguous things about the whole widescreen/fullscreen thing... is it possible that the TF movie was animated full frame?

After all, widescreen isn't always seeing everything. A lot of widescreen movies are actually matted in the projector, while truly widescreen films are the result of anamorphic lenses on the cameras and projectors. I don't really see why they would use anamorphic lenses for animation.

Ugh. This is too big. For more information see the Wiki:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/35_mm_film

Long story short, the "fullscreen" version of the movie might actually be the version where we see all there is to see, while the widescreen was just matted to play wide in theatres. I'm not positive this is the case, but it seems likely.

Though I too was sort of disappointed that there wasn't all sorts of hidden offscreen detail that I'd been missing for years on VHS.

I think because in China, companys have to do more to make the legit version more appealing than the bootlegs. We think piracy is bad here because of the internet, but in China, they can get profesionaly printed bootlegs for around $5 US from simple street vendors.

There is no True Widescreen version in the sense you mean - the cropped version is taken from a cinema print, and the movie was animated 4:3.
