    visuals-movie
    story-novel

it felt as if things were cut from the movie that were in the novel that would have made the scenes make more sense

The visuals in the movie, but the story and the detail in the novel was vastly superior.

The novel has techinically a better story [of course, it's a God Damn book], but the movie has also a great story and much, MUCH better visuals.

    Kinda like...

    Novel:
    Story: 10.
    Visuals: 0

    Movie:
    Story: 8.
    Visuals: OVER NINETHOUSAAAAAAAAND!

So I'll go with the movie.

It's a VERY short book. only 300 pages or so. I finished it in one evening.

Really? You must have ZERO imagination. The images in my head based on the novel were OVER TENTHOUSAAAAAAAAND! times better than the movie. On top of that, the book ending was better, Prime wasn't as much of a homicidal maniac, and Megatron actually had CHARACTER GROWTH. For the first time, Megatron was an emotional being rather than just a psycho hellbent on universal domination at any cost. Megatron was actually doubting himself, and his beliefs. All that was tossed out the window by Bay in favor of "God of War: Robot Edition"

Novel. Writing was miles better, plus I preferred the moving pictures in my imagination as opposed to what I got on screen.

    Novel, because:

    1. Better Ending.
    2. Loads more robot dialogue. Sentinel and Megatron had at least 20 lines cut each in the movie.
    3. Playground scene :redface2:

I'm a fanfic writer son, if anyone knows what "imagination through reading" means, is me, and even I know few books on this Earth can match the visuals of Michael Bay.

The DOTM novel is not one of them.

    Good for you.

    Your opinion.

He's never been a homicidial maniac ["Oh looK! He killed three power-hungry tyrants that were going to wipe mankind out of the face of the planet! That guy is a pyschopath!"].

Oh yeah, it's not like he spent most of his screen-time showing how insane [Making lions, Elephatns and Zebra "Hail" him], declining [getting the crap beaten out of him by Sentinel] and deppressive [watching Cybertron return, almost with tear on his eyes].

    Oh, wait...

Since when God of War has giant robots?

I liked a lot of what I heard about the novel, but the ending was the deal breaker for me. The movie had an epic ending fight although it didn't bring as much closure as I would have liked. Are the Autobots going to be sent away again or not?

Frankly, I thought the movie was great, I wouldn't trade the visuals and humor for anything in the novel. But I would have loved to see some of the scenes in the novel. (The twins, Starscream killing Dino, Que getting killed in the river, Topspin speaking.)

    Megatron was an homicidal maniac
So was Sentinel Prime and all the other Decepticons.

Optimus is neither any of those, he's just a Heroic Warrior that is willing to do the right thing to stop maniacs like the Cons.

Novels are nearly always better than films. I'm a big fan of the written word.

Especially when Bay can't make books explode.
