I'd like to know if anyone else is having this problem.

I bought the DOTM Shockwave this afternoon, and when I tried to transform him I discovered that my figure was defective.

When converting him into vehicle mode, where his head and front wheels rotate to form the front end, I noticed the hinge is broken, and instead of rotating it properly I'm bending the plastic to the point of breaking.

I still have the receipt, and box, and such, but since I already opened the figure Toys R Us might not be able to help me.

I just wanted to voice my concerns in case anyone else has a defective Shaockwave.

I've returned a figure to TRU that was broken; they'll take care of you. I say pick up another Shockwave because he's an excellent figure.

Well the TRU I went to is in NJ, and I saw about three or four of them. I hope they're still there tomorrow.
I figure if TRU can't help me, then I'll be taking my complaint to Hasbro.

Take it back to TRU. You've got your receipt, the original packaging, and you're returning it within their established time frame for refunds/exchanges. You're covered. When they ask you if anything's wrong with it, just say it's defective. End of story. They'll most likely give you a Toys R Us gift card for the value stated on the receipt.

Taking it to Hasbro will not likely get you anywhere. From what I've heard/read from other members who have done so, Hasbro will either a) not respond to you b) respond and ask that you send the broken toy to them and not get anything in return, or c) respond, ask you to send them the broken toy and they'll send you a box of beat up Tuner Mudflaps.

Tru is pretty good with broken items as long as you have the receipt.

I just got him recently and I love him. No defects for me.

I took a Transformer back to TRU about 2 years ago and I had the box, receipt and everything and they happily helped me. I can't remember if they gave me physical money back, or put in on a giftcard, but I did get my money back in some way. I just remember the real reason they had no problem with it is because it was still under warranty. Which I think was 90 days at the time. It talked about the warranty and 90 days on my receipt, so I feel like your receipt should say it too. Unless they've changed their policy in the last 2 years.

Are you sure you're doing it right? I know how that sounds but that joint can be a bit deceiving at first.

i bought and returned one of those crash test dummies figures back in the day, and repeated it like 5 times.

damn those toys didn't last even a day! :lol

so they'd better still be taking things back that's broken!

hell when i worked at toys r us we had a big pile of broken toys, in the back, lol so they still did when i worked there!

That's a very, very ambiguous statement indeed :p

I got myself a deluxe Roadbuster yesterday and the sheer number of parts popping off during transformation is very dissapointing.

i got a megatron from TRU today and the hinge that holds the truck part on his chest had the pin placed really badly, killing the joint. they just let me swap for another one. good luck mate, they can be stubborn. :)

Yeah, I work for TRU (well, Babies R US, but still the same deal). If you have the box, your receipt, and it's within 90 days, you're good to go.

As far as I know, my Shocky doesn't have that problem. There's a couple of places that are difficult to transform, but as far as I can tell, they're supposed to be that way.

Like everyone else, return it and exchange it. Do not take it up with Hasbro, that will not do you any good. They will give you the "we're very sorry for your unpleasant experience" blah blah automated email they send which results into nothing.

Well I just got back from TRU, and they were very cool about it. Got a new Shockwave, and it transformed perfectly. I'm happy with my DOTM Shockwave now! Thanks for the support!

I totally remember those! I had the car when I was a kid and loved it.

Excellent! Glad everything worked out for you. Hope you enjoy Shockwave.
